Guest guest
Char, Before I go into the asthma, I'd love to welcome you to the family. I am glad that you found us. At the age of four I had chronic asthma. The doctors would not treat me for it. I would wake up almost every night not being able to breath, chest/back pains, etc. I would wake up my mother. Her and I would spend the rest of the night trying to calm it. The only way we could calm it was if I drunk alot of tea or hot coacoa. Caffine helps. Since I was a kid, having me drink tea or coffee was very hard for my mother to have me do, so I would get some breaks and drink hot coacoa. Anything that is hot helps too. There were several times my mother had to rush me into ER. Anyways, I got a new doctor when I was about 8 yrs old. The first time we saw her so admitted that I DO have asthma, chronic asthma. That was when I started getting treated for it. Since I was a child, I had to use the child peak flow. I could not even move. The doctor was upset and angry that I have not been treated. I was lucky to still be alive. It took about two years with treatment before I could start moving the peak flow. Since I had no help from doctors before then, I learned how to survive without the help. I knew that if I wanted to grow-up, I would have to understand my asthma. Now, I know if I am going to have an asthma attack before it happens. I know if inhalers will work, steriods, etc. before the attack happens. Enough about me. If you want to more all you have to do is ask. I am sorry to here you have been so sick. Being sick and asthma does not go very well together. " i have a nebulizer i use 4 times a day. with this round of being sick using it seems to make me cough more. why? and i shake so bad from the side effects from the meds. always have done that. " If you use your nebulizer, inhalers, or other meds. and get shakey, you must tell your doctor. This will happen when your body is receiving to much medication to fast. Or, the dose of medication you are taking may be to strong for you body to take. This will cause your body to shake. You are getting slightly overdosed with your medication. After I take my nebulizer, I can not stand up for about ten minutes afterwards because it give me a rush. I get rush because my body had just got a big dose of med. I have fainted once from this. My mother said that I was shaking real bad when I was in the faint. My eyes were wide open but rolled behind my head. When I woke up, I felt very weak, very sick to my stomach, and still a bit shaky. Anytime you cough after/during your nebulizer/inhalers that can be a good sign. It means that your lungs have received the medication and the medication is affecting your lungs. Coughing tells you that the medication is clearing up your lungs. " do you have a handicapped card? " No, I do not. I am so aware of my asthma that I will know if I go to a store if I will have an attack. " thanks for letting me just vent. i am tired of being sick and hurting and taking meds LOL but better then not breathing huh. " I understand completely on this. A few days ago I broke down bawling my eyes out to about being " tired of being sick " . I do not have a normal life and never will. Everything is decided around my health. Everyday I have med. to take. I know it gets very frustrating, but you have to keep holding on. Be happy with what you have.
