Re: Need for monitoring the impact of TI programmes

Thanks for posting these issues,

I totally agree that the other states in the country also need to be

relooked at with regard to various programs being funded and which will be

initiated in the future for the MSM groups as well as other groups.

On Karnataka front, before the Gates funding was recieved, programs were in

place but were not able to cover all the districts, today with the funding & the

KSAPS all the districts are revciving attention.

Seeing the history, most of the times the women in sex work projects will

recieve handholding & funding and groups providing prevention program for

alternative sexualities is often neglected.

More active advocacy & government response is needed, I am sure other states and

their agencies would be willling to provide to support & strengthen the existing

programs in Maharashtra.

I would also request members to provide more information on the various

activities being done in Maharashthra. I would like to know more about the

programs.

It is also required to look at the TI's in a more methodological manner, it will

be able to provide more aspects to assess the programs already on the ground,

today TI programs is not about stigmatizing particular groups but to look at

these more strategically according the needs of different groups & address the

same.

Very soon we have to look at each state in this nation as important as the

other, though there are already marked highrisk states but the others should not

get shawdowed & suddenly after a matter of few years look at these neglected

states also as high risk states.
