Guest guest
Sounds pretty cool KimC. Good luck with the shows! Shaye weekend show Hi all, new person posting. I just got home from setting things up for a weekend show. A group of people got together a little over a year ago and bought the old Niagara Falls High School, which is 3 stories high and huge. Their intent is to make this old building an art center/gallery. They are called Niagara Arts Cultural Center aka NACC. So far it is all volunteer, grants and dontations. All of the old class rooms have been rented to various artists. Some use their rooms as studios, some use it to make money teaching their individual craft or art.Wish I could afford one. Would be great to have all soap stuff in the same room. I have my some of my products in their gift shop...that is my connection. Anyway, this is their fundraiser, an arts and craft show, chinese auction as well as a few other events. Hope to do well. Next weekend off and then two weekend shows in a row. It started out really slow and for quite a while I thought I'd be lucky to make enough to pay for the space and my gas but in the end I took in almost $180.00. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good job, Barb! I'm sure your display and goods were fantastic and irresistible! How do you package your petals? It's happened to me with those small shows occasionally that, the caliber of crafts is, um, less than that of larger shows, though, or sometimes I'm the only one with my type of craft, so I can do a bigger business than might be true, otherwise. LOL, whatever it takes! :-) At the show I did yesterday, all of my fall leaf soaps and some other dipped petals sold within the first hour or so. And since you did well with them, it just proves that they're still popular. ;-) I need to do some poinsettia leaves for my next show. My soaps that sold best were scents of pine, autumn (a cinnamony scent), and cinnamon apple. I sold regular sized bars and guest sized bars for the bulk of my sales, with the petals following just behind, and then some whipped shea, tub teas, and lotion bars. My display is still a work in progress but it's getting better. I had everything crammed onto one table and now I think I probably should have made an " L " and spread things out. http://www.flickr.com/photos/64711497@N00/1980767725/in/photostream/ No doubt I will look like a rank amateur at Corning this coming weekend but I don't care :-) My booth is #51 if anyone is there and wants to stop by and snicker at me <lol>. I package my petals and leaves in cello bags - 3 1/2 X 2 X 7 1/2 tied with raffia. I make tags out of business cards, fold them in half and punch a hole in the corner and they get attached to the bags when I'm applying the raffia. How do you package yours? My leaf/petal factory is set-up in my kitchen, next to the microwave <lol> I've been working on replenishing my stock before the next two shows. Guest guest
I'm sorry Shaye and . When I found out the show was not until 5 p.m. on Friday I knew I would not get back there the rest of the weekend. I had too many other shows this weekend to check out that I did not have to pay to get into or drive back downtown. Are you guys doing others? Re: weekend show > > I can't wait to see you both! You guys are making me so jealous! I want to see everyone too. LOL! The harder I try to save for a trip up there, the less I seem to have. There's always something that comes up I have to spend my money on.
