State Conference of Sex Workers in Kolkata, India on 27-05- 05

Dear Sir/Madam,

Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee, an organization of the sex workers of West

Bengal, is organizing its State Conference on 27 May

2005 Friday, at the University Institute Hall, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

We solicit your presence in this Conference.

Our organization is ten years old. During these ten years we are

fighting for attaining the human, social, professional, legal and

civil rights of the sex workers. In these struggles we always had

the support of conscientious people like you.

In the current phase of our struggle we are facing the jihads

launched against us by the Bush administration of USA, legislating

against the rights of sex workers and anti-entertainment- worker

governments of many regions-like Maharashtra – of India. Our state

conference aims at evolving a policy perspective for uniting the

struggles for attaining the rights of sex workers, with those of

other marginalized people.
