Dear Forum Members,

We all have been working from so many years on Awareness and on care

and support for People Living With HIV/AIDS still the cases are going

on like Commiting Sucide, Here in Goa A couple who had got married a

one year back, had commited sucide, when she was pregnant of 9 months.

Rajan Naik( Name changed) had got married to Savitri Naik( Name

changed) a one year back, they were from middle class family living

with their parents, they were very happily leading a life, but when

Savitri got a Pregnancy she had been to reffered to Goa Medical

College, where she came to Know that she is HIV+,, which she could

not except it, and then later even husband has been also tested for

HIV, which was also HIV+.

Doctors were given a date of delivery of child for 22nd also, but

both couple felt that they will not live for a long, so will look

after this child, and also the child might be HIV+. So they taken a

decission on their own to commiting sucide, they have not informed

even to any family members.

They had taken electric wires and tied all over body, and they

plugged into a socket.

When our staff spoke to their family members they said. we met them

last time was when we all had dinner together, and we never knew this will

happen. and the mother started crying.

Here we all have been trying to reduce stigma & Discrimination, to

provide a Positive information after infection of HIV.

But i think we all have to think again very seriously andthat really

we can do some thing. That it should not happen again.

The unborn baby who had died in the womb of mother before coming to

this world.

According to us we felt that there is a necessary that at Govt

Hospital,at VCCTC OR PPTCT, When they find that client is living with HIV/AIDS,

they should reffer to Positive Networks,or Community based organization where

they can provide better information and can that People Living with HIV/AIDS can

live many more years and with of quality of life.
