Guest guest
Walter, Thank you for reminding us all that Memorial Day is not about: * A three day weekend. * The beginning of spring. * Bar-B-Qs Although these things are part of the enjoyment of a holiday weekend, the real reason for the freedom of that holiday is the people who died to protect it! > What is Memorial Day, Its a day for us to remember our fallen heros who > can't be at home with their familys today because they gave the ultimate > sacrifice their lives so we could enjoy this day of freedom. Guest guest
Hooah. Was on the way to a State Park...that charges only $2.00 admission to enjoy this wonderfully protected beauty known as the United States. 3pm came around and the classic rock station we were air guitaring to, stopped normal programming for Taps. Moment of silence.....my Army boyfriend, shot at in Bosnia on a " peacekeeping mission " that will forever be forgotten like Somalia, Sierra Leone, kind of like Korea, and almost like Vietnam......his eyes started to water. He knows. After Taps there's no better tunes to play but " Modern Day Cowboy " by Tesla about the Persian Gulf War and " Born in the USA " by Bruce Springsteen about Vietnam. Classic. I'm a vet's daughter. Daddy was Recon Marine in Viet-Nam. I've heard the stories and seen the untold ones in his eyes. The younger generation has lost respect for veterans because they've never seen a war or seen their friends and brothers go off to fight and come back injured or in a bag. It's awful they have no respect....it's good that it's because we haven't had a war like in the past for a long time. Thanks to all veterans. Over seas or at home. Combat or support. You all count. Welcome Home! -

Guest guest
Stilligans: Here is hoping that all of you stilligans are enjoying this Memorial Day as I am? I lowered my flag to half mast at sunrise and then raised it to full staff at noon as required. Please evryone remember our Veterans who gave and continue to give, so that we may remain free. Our Constitution is being attacked more and more every day and we must remain vigilant to those who attempt put their own spin and interpretation on it and stop them in their tracks. Take care now and be PAIN FREE! WE WILL WIN Love Y'all Bob & Carole Please visit the Stills Disease web site at; www.stillsdisease.org

Guest guest
MEMORIAL DAY It's a simple thing and it is true: You can't remember what you never knew; You can't recall a time or place If you never occupied that space. You can't relive the war again, Nor feel the fear of the Devil's den, Nor smell anew that toxic air; You can't do that if you were not there. But you can on this Memorial Day Join with those who weep and pray; You may not recall the what it's true But we can and should remember who.
