The Organization: Population Services International is a registered Indian Society dedicated to the improvement of public health in India. Over the past fifteen years, PSI has collaborated with the GoI and a number of donors to increase the use of modern contraception for family planning, to products and services for the health of mothers and children and to decrease the spread of HIV/AIDS. PSI is operating three major programs in India viz. Operation Light House, Family Health Program and Gates Project. Since 2002, PSI has implemented an integrated AIDS prevention activity funded by USAID (Operation Light House) targeting men at risk of HIV in India. The program aims at HIV/AIDS prevention by working with the sex workers in the Red Light districts through communication, products and services, advocacy and monitoring and evaluating behavior change. The project is fudned by the USAID through AIDSMARK and is currently operating in 9 states and 12 ports across India. Position Overview: PSI is expanding operations in India rapidly. An experienced researcher is needed immediately to join the strategic planning unit of Operation Lighthouse (www.psiopl.org )and get involved in the design, implementation and monitoring of various state of the art HIV/AIDS prevention interventions. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Independently manage primary research, which require designing and implementation of appropriate research methodology, drafting research brief, evaluating research propositions of different research agency, selection and monitoring of research agency, ensuring the quality of reports, proper dissemination and use of findings, for · Developing communication concepts, brands, pre and post test of communications campaigns · Improving sales and quality of services and client inflow to program clinics · Improving growth of product category, Aid communication, service delivery and other line managers through sourcing, analyzing and reporting secondary data on Demographic Health Survey (DHS), RCH, Census, CMIE, relevant research from national & international partner organization Assist in program strategy and plan development Develop capacity of research agencies through sharing methods of data collection, field control and analysis Liases with other research institutions (e.g. IIPS, Pop Council) through mutual sharing. Qualifications - Masters or Doctorate in Social Science or Public Health/Demography; or MBA. - 3-5 years of experience in handling Quantitative and Qualitative research studies - Knowledge in Public Health is highly desirable - Professional training on Research Methodology/Population studies/Public Health will be treated as an additional qualification Compensation Compensation will be at par with other similar organizations in this sector.
