Guest guest Posted April 20, 2005 Report Share Posted April 20, 2005 Data Manager - Monitoring and Evaluation for Chennai, Salem, and Tirunelveli Applications are invited for the position of a full-time, Data Manager (DM) at Chennai, Salem, and Tirunelveli (3 posts) for Monitoring & Evaluation (M & E) activities of a comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment project in Tamil Nadu, which includes provision of antiretroviral (ARV} therapy. The M & E activities of this three- year project will be coordinated by Yale University, Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA) through its Yale-India office in Chennai. The project will be directed by the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS) and implemented through Government Medical Colleges located at each of the three sites – Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in Chennai, Salem Medical College Hospital in Salem, and Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital in Tirunelveli. A Site Supervisor (SS) for M & E will be based at each of the three Government Hospitals. An M & E India Project Director based in Chennai will provide scientific expertise and coordinate the M & E activities across all three hospitals. The DM will report to the SS and the India Project Director. Skills and experience Candidates with Masters Degree in Statistics or allied disciplines will be preferred. Bachelor's degree candidates with specialization in Statistics or allied sciences with substantial experience in analysis and management of HIV data will also be considered. The candidate must have excellent computer skills (word processing, spread sheets) and be very familiar with data analytic softwares, such as Microsoft Access, SPSS, other quantitative and qualitative statistical softwares), The DM should also be proficient in Tamil and English. Prior experience in data collection, entry, compilation, analysis, and maintaining computerized data recording systems will be an advantage. Key Responsibilities The DM will assist the SS in collecting clinical, psychosocial, and textual data by reviewing medical records and conducting interviews with patients and their family members at the Government Hospital and in the community. The DM will ensure that the data is being collected ethically and is secure at all times. The DM will perform data entry, conduct preliminary analyses, and be responsible for maintaining the computerized data recording system for the activities of patients/families at their Government Hospital site. The DM will report these activities on a regular basis to the SS and to the India Project Director. The DM should liaison with the local hospital teams, NGOs and others involved in the implementation of the ARV project, and will attend district-level project meetings as required. The DM will occasionally be required to travel to the neighboring districts from where patients will be enrolled for the study and occasionally to the Yale-India office in Chennai to provide project updates. Overall the DM should be an individual with excellent organizational skills who can manage the computerized data recording system of all the M & E activities at their hospital site and assist the SS in the day-to-day activities.
