I wouldnt also overlook MBSR, meditation based stress reduction, as

championed by Dr. Kabat-Zinn at UMass. See his bio here

There are also a number of studies on Pubmed that show the effectiveness

of MBSR in reducing stress and many of its physical symptoms. He was on

PBS awhile back. He has some good books as well. Note, I speak as a

biased person having really enjoyed an MBSR based class here in ,

CA. It truly improved my outlook on life.
