Guest guest
Morning stiffness, which is sometimes described as a thickening or " jelling-up " of the synovial fluid, was one of the first symptoms to respond early on to the antibiotics for me. Perhaps you need to try switching or adding on another antibiotic? I still get some generalized stiffness and swelling but the exaggerated effect in the morning or after sitting a long time has not come back. It began to go away about two months into my tetracycline treatment. Liz G

That was one of the first symptoms that sent me to my gp. With the AP I have found it has lessened 80%, but some days after a lot of activity it is worse. Hope this helps. Too bad you are getting it now. :>) >> Hi Bev, Now I am beginning to understand why they say there are 100 types of arthritis! 2 people have written to me that their stiffness only began after going on the AP and yours has lessened. This only confirms that we are indeed complex and very individualized creatures. Anita, RA 26 years, Fibro, AP 16 months

I started the AP on Jan 30 1998, and 1 week later took my last shot of Mtx and quit it cold turkey. So I have been off Mtx for over a year. Do you guys really think I'm herxing or just in a huge flare? My knees flaring for 3 months at least, now last month it is elbows and ankles for the very first time in these 26 years. Heels so bad in the a.m. can hardly walk, then it leaves pretty much but I can't walk or stand very long. I am doing the elimination diet, started today. To have found the cure when you have had it for only such a short time. We long termers are in for a mighty long haul. I am starting with the foods I love and eat the most and then will omit others and add back which don't bother me. Geoff sent the protocol for it. Guest guest
It does help some with spasticity. Like everything, it depends on the individual. I was so stifft to start with, and it hasn't made a difference in that. Guest guest
I AM NOT SURE BUT I CAN SAY , AFTER 1 MONTH OF LDN , THAT INITIALLY THE STIFFNESS WAS WORSE BUT IS BEGINNING TO LESSON A LITTLE. Guest guest
I don't think I've seen an explanation for the stiffness. I THINK it only occurs in those of us with MS, but I'm not certain of that either. I also don't understand why LDN improves symptoms for some. It isn't actually fixing anything, as is evidenced by the return to pre LDN status if you quit taking it for few days? Perhaps it somehow improves nerve conduction? Does anyone have the explanations for these questions? JT [low dose naltrexone] Stiffness What is it that causes increased stiffness with LDN? I already had plenty of that before starting.
