The treatment is painful, but after several months, I am no longer bothered by the flares and pain from that. Now I have RA, so I have other problems, thank God, not both. His website is www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com He wrote a book called What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia and several others, and has the condition himself. Guest guest
Welcome Girdey! This is a great group to belong to. Like you I have fibro and get painful muscle spasms in my shoulders mostly. I take a muscle relaxant called Soma mainly at night but do take it during the day when I don't have to drive. Also use heat wraps or packs which help. Even beat my muscle some. Also take yoga which helps my muscles. Hope this helps. Is there another name or ID we can call you? hugs, Debbie L > > Hello, I'm new to this group. I suffer from fibromyalgia. Guest guest
I remember being told when I was pregnant that they can also be caused by calcium deficiency. During pregnancy, that's caused by growing the baby's bones at the expense of the mother's blood calcium levels. But since pred use also causes bone loss, I just assumed my cramps were calcium related. > > > I > > > > My question is>> does anyone else experience > > these extremely painful muscle spasms?>>>> > > > > Yes, lack of potassium causes them if you are taking prednisone, I believe. > Pris > > > > > >

Guest guest
Hi to everyone, Im new to this group! I was diagnosed with CML 04/01/07, talking about a " good " start of a year ... Im 27 and sometimes I have difficulties admitting to myself that Im a cancer patient. Most of the time I dont think about it, it makes life easier. Im on Gleevec 400mg, and after 3 months I really do not have any side effects, the first month was difficult but now everything is OK. My Doc wanted to be on the safe side and have a tissue matching with my only sister and it turned out to be that she is not a match. To make things even more complicated my doc said that I have inherited a very rare type of bone marrow from my parents, and my father is deceased and I dont have much family from my fathers side. Hopefully my dearest mother will be a match. The only thing that really makes me very sad is the fact that it would be difficult to have children, I always wanted to have a lot of children ... IS there someone among you that has had a baby while taking a break from Gleevec or after a bone marrow translplant? I really would love to hear some good news on this matter. May God Bless you all, and May the happiest days of your past be the saddest days of your future All the best, Kaqi 79 --------------------------------- Get your own web address. Guest guest
Dear , Thank you very much! You really helped me to decide to get pregnant after my situation is stabilized. I have spoken to my doctor on this topic and he explained to me everything I needed to know yet I didnt have the courage to make a decision. He suggested for me to freeze some eggs and after the bone marrow translplantation, if it is succesfull, he said that I can carry on with the pregnancy myself. Im lucky that my onchologist here in UK is a very good doctor and he is very carefull with me. I havent been in touch with any of the patients in my hospital with CML especially not any young ones and women. When I go for regullar check ups there are only elderly people, Im sure Im the youngest patient that they have with CML in my hospital out of 25 patients. But I believe that if I have a child I will have another strong reason to stay alive and fight Im sure your son is happy to have you as a mother and Im sure he gives you stregth to carry on fighting. I have a lot of troble with gleevec side-effects but I'm alive. I'm glad that you are ok and that you have found us. I wish you the best and completely understand your sorrow over pregnancy. The good news is that pregnancy and CML are not incompatable, you just have to be watched very carefully. Gleevec is, however, toxic to the fetus so before you decide to try to get pregnant get your CML under control and speak with your onchologist. Best of luck, hang in there and if you need someone to talk to I'm here. :} [ ] New to the group! Hi to everyone, Im new to this group! Guest guest
Hey Arta, I'm glad you have the peace of a decision. Hang in there and you will get through this! I hope you won't have to go through a BMT and that gleevec is a permanent solution for you. :} [ ] New to the group! Hi to everyone, Im new to this group!
