International AIDS conference in 2008 in New Delhi

Dear Colleagues,

" You will be happy to know that the Governing council meeting of

the IAS held on Sunday(24th July, 2005) in Rio has decided to hold

the International AIDS conference in 2008 in New Delhi " (Dr.N.M.

, IAS Regional representative for Asia and the Pacific)

The International AIDS Society (IAS) represents the world's

professional society for scientists, health care and public health

workers and others engaged in HIV/AIDS prevention, control and care.

IAS is the custodian of International AIDS Conference.

The City of Toronto, Canada will host the XVI International AIDS

Conference in 2006 and New Delhi, the Capital City of India has

been chosen to host the XVII International AIDS Conference in 2008.

A local organizating committee, with representatives from all the

key stake holders will host his conference in New Delhi.

The IAS has recently released it's AIDS 2004 Bangkok – final report,

including audited financial results. The full report, summarizing

key elements, evaluation, statistics, and audited financial results

from the XV International AIDS Conference 2004 gives the reader an

overview of the XV International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2004) that

took place from 11-16 July 2004 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Since the first International AIDS Conference was held in Atlanta in

1985, the International AIDS Conference has been evolving

continuously to reflect the changes required for an effective

response to a developing epidemic. The XV International AIDS

Conference, through the participation of 19,843 delegates from over

160 countries, including 2,710 media representatives, clearly

confirmed the International AIDS Conference as the premier event

that shapes global perception and understanding of HIV/AIDS.
