Guest guest
Dear FORUM, The BBC World Service Trust is the charitable arm of the BBC that uses communications strategies for development work. In India, the BBC WST is currently running the largest HIV/AIDS awareness mass media campaign. As a part of this campaign, the Trust is producing a weekly, youth focussed, Hindi language, reality, entertainment television show called Haath Se Haath Milaa (HSHM), to be telecast on DD1, reaching out to over 58 million viewers. Central to the show, are our Young Achievers or Yuva Stars (age group 18-35). These are people who have made a difference in their communities; whose lives or work are linked in some way with HIV/AIDS. This does not mean trophies and medals, but it does mean respect and admiration from their communities. Over the course of 3 episodes, HSHM will tell the story of each Yuva Star that will encompass his family and home, his work and colleagues, his views, struggles, dreams and aspirations. An essential ingredient of the Yuva Star’s story, however, will be his favourite Hindi Film Star. At the end of 3 episodes, our Yuva Stars will get to Haath Se Haath Milaa with their chosen Film Star, and to draw the Star into the ambit of their world and work. The 4 categories of possible Yuva Stars are: a. Doctors / health care workers who work with people living with HIV/AIDS b. People who run NGOs and support groups for people living with HIV/AIDS c. Lawyers, activists, educators, counsellors, communicators, etc who work with people living with HIV/AIDS d. People living with HIV/AIDS We are in the process of identifying potential Yuva Stars from across the country and are looking for immediate input from related organizations or individuals in this regard. Assistance of any kind in our search for Yuva Stars is greatly appreciated. Please contact us: Address: Haath Se Haath Milaa, BBC World Service Trust, D184 Defence Colony, New Delhi 24.
