Kim - I'm not familiar with the protein pudding ... but you should be having

carbs with every meal - doesn't have to be a starch tho - a fruit would be good.

Are you checking your calories? You don't want to get too low ...

That is the portion size that I use, 1/2 cup. I have spacial-

relations problems, so I don't do palm/fist measurements; I go by

grams. According to the bag one half cup of brown rice is a serving

for me. It looked infinitesimaly small to me at first, but now that

I've had time to adjust I've realized that it is plenty. My meals

fill me up, and I am ready for the next one right on schedule.

portions should be and I got a 1/2 a cup.

1/2. GEE, that is hardly no food.

Tip: Use smaller plates for meals.

My boyfriend gets the big dinner plate. I get a small salad plate. 1/2

cuppa rice, 3oz chicken, and the rest with veggies, and it looks like a

mountain of food to me now. :D

I did a stirfry tonight with chicken, mushrooms, zucchini and broccoli and threw

in 1/4 brown rice. I could hardly finish it. I think I used to eat at LEAST 1

cup or more! lol

(By the way - is brown basmati rice ok? I notice its carb content is extremely

high)

Yup! Brown & basmati each have lower glycemic indexes than white rice.

Brown basmati is yummy to boot! Of course, keep an eye on portion size

and you'll be fine.

1/4 cup is about 36 grams of carbs! And that's all I eat. Can't eat much less.

lol Thanx.

Rita, are you sure they don't mean 1/4 dry rice is 36 grams of

carbs? If that's the case, then it would be roughly 3/4 cups

prepared.

Alys - all I know is what it says - that Serving Size is 1/4 cup - there are

about 22 servings per package and the nutritional values are:

Calories 170

Total Fat 1g

Total carb 35

Dietary Fiber 2g

Protein 4g

Would it be so difficult for these people to just say uncooked or prepared next

to their nutritional values? lol

Rita;

According to my food facts book, 1/4 c serving equaling 35-36g. of carbs is

in the dry state not cooked. So if you would to cook up say 1 c. of raw

brown basmati rice you would have 4 servings each of about 3/4 c. cooked

rice [rice expands usually 3 times it's volume when cooked].

Hope this helps~

Pardon my stupidity, but are we talking cooked or uncooked rice?

Cooked. It expands quite a bit when cooked. That's why they don't

throw rice at weddings any more. The birds got to eating it and it

was harmful to them when it expanded. So, measure it all cooked.

Yeah, that is annoying. I've been known to measure out the whole bag

to prove to myself which way it was intended. If the bag measures 5

1/2 cups, then they mean dry. If the bag has only about 1 3/4 cups,

then they mean cooked (since rice tripples size in cooking.)

It would be nice if they made it clear for you.

I never knew this about rice and birds! What great trivia. Learn

something new every day....
