Tracey:

I take 1/2 of an Ambien tablet every third day or so. It really helps me

get caught up on sleep.

Hi Everyone,

I'm curious to know if any of you have tried anything to help you sleep

better and if yes, did it work?

I've been sleep deprived pretty much ever since I can remember (which

I'm sure contributes to the fatigue and mental fog I have that I

sometimes blame on Gleevec).

I was ready to try Melatonin but then I read on the box that it

shouldn't be taken by anyone who has leukemia. Geez (insert frustrated

sigh here), I never saw that on anything before, such a specific

warning, I figured I better not take it.

So anyone try anything that works?

Lorazepam! It always works like a charm for me and I wake up feeling pretty

OK.

Ambien just turned me into some kind of creepy pod person, and trazedone

works but involves an extended hangover that lasts half the day.

Hi Tracey,

I also use Lorazepam! I find I need only 1mg and I get a nice easy

feeling sleep like a log. No hangover effect if I take it before 9:00pm

Tracey,

I haven't used it, but my husband has used Ambien and has pretty good results

with it.

Flexeril (generic Cyclobenzaprine) works as a muscle relaxant (good

for the gleevec cramps!)and off-label sleep aid. I only take 1/2 the

dose max so that it doesn't leave me with that groggy feeling the next

day. I also always carry some along in case I get a cramping episode

while at work, out and about, etc. Then, I might take a 1/4 dose, just

enough to get rid of the cramp but not enough to induce sleepiness as

I might have to drive somewhere. Also could try Sonata. Sonata can be

taken anytime you realize that you aren't getting to sleep naturally,

even late at night. You must have at least 4 hours to devote to sleep.

Little if any hangover. These are the ones I use thus far. Might also

ask for a script for Soma (another muscle relaxant) since I feel that

Flexeril with repeated use might increase the incidence of cramping.

At least it does for me. Reference:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclobenzaprine and

http://www.sonata.com/sonatanow/1.1_why_is_sonata_unique.asp

respectively.

Ditto. Ambien has worked for me. Wake up refreshed. No tolerence or anything

like that. If you get a prescription for some, make sure you go to bed fairly

promptly after taking as it hits pretty fast.
