and keep me filled in on your treatement! Iam so excited for you, I am on cytomel t3, levoxyl, (T4) as I tried armour for over a year and it did not owrk at all for me, Although is it promising to many women! But not everyone is the same, and it can be a test of treaments of trial and error before you fel your best. I also had my hormones tested by a reputable saliva company. (as the thyroid being out of whack can throw many hormoes out of sync and implants are very estrogenic) I now balance it with a little natural progesterone every month. I feel so much better since going on this new therapy!

Once you have your metabolism up to parr, your body can detox more effectily and also have the stregth to repair! So, I believe your health has a better chance, once you get that thyroid gland, the master galnd working more efffeciently with proper treamtent. Keep me posted gal!

Hi Everyone,

Last week I had extra blood work done to measure my lithium level which I also

take. My psychiatrist called today after receiving the lab results and said I

needed to see an endocrinologist right away because my thyroid numbers were off

the chart. Well, after I got the appointment for next week, of course I started

looking up thyroid on the web. Big mistake. About a jillion things can go

wrong with it from cancer to medication interaction to who knows? I walked away

from the internet and am putting this out of my mind until I get some kind of

answers that make sense. It was just a shock after being in such good shape

with Sprycel for less than a year. It does answer why I have to take naps and

I'm more tired than I used to be. I guess one reason I'm writing this is not

just for a little support which comes just by writing it and knowing there are

people there who care. But, also perhaps it would be good to ask your onc if

you should have your thyroid checked.

Sorry to hear about your thryoid! Keep us posted. I have hypothyroid and am

on medication for it. My dr. acted like it was no big deal though. They found

the thyroid problem through the blood work when I was diagnosed with CML! So, I

have a double whammy! Is your hyper or hypo thyroid?

Hi ,

I had a suspicious FNA of an enlarged right lobe last month and it was recommended I have it removed. The lobe was over 3.5cm It was a tough decision for me, as I don't do well with surgery or medications. But the cancer suspicion was serious enough that I felt I had very little choice. I had the right lobe removed a few weeks ago. I did fairly well with the surgery but did need a betablocker during recovery. My levels will be tested again in June. Besides Synthroid, there is Armour thyroid, and a few others you can try.

I have a friend who did have thyroid cancer, and she has undergone the radioactive iodine treatment. Her tsh levels are at 87 right now, and it will be another week before she can start medication. She is in her 30s and physically very exhausted going through this.

The reason I had my lobe removed was because it contained a cold nodule, and that increases the cancer risk. So the first question I would ask is whether there is a cold nodule, and if not, would it be possible to monitor the thyroid, and perhaps have another FNA in 6 months. Very rarely do people die from thyroid cancer. The cure rate is typically around 90%. The death rate is higher in older males.

By the way, I have neurological problems, and they are much worse after surgery. I hope this helps,

hugs,Beth

Rogene,

Was it 94? I was there so many times I cannot remember. The FDA

testimony on silicone was in 91 and 92. Then the saline hearings

were after that. If you were there in 92 you would have seen me go

up and hand the congresswoman (who was testifying that she could not

be a whole woman because she had a mastectomy and could not get a

silicone breast implant) my prosthesis and tell her I was a whole

woman and I wear a prosthesis. The women pulled me out of the room,

laughing hysterically, and said they did not know why I did not get

thrown out. Threw that congresswoman for a loop.

Cathie,

What are you doing to detox? What meds are you on? Was your entire

scar capsule removed?

Cathie, I think it was '94 . . . We didn't testify . . . There was an outdoor rally - former FDA head, Kessler spoke on the dangers of breast implants . . . along with some other speakers. I still see videos segments taken at the rally from time to time. Some of visited congressmen's offices . . . That's where I saw some of the smoothest talkers I've ever seen. . . They could talk up a storm without saying anything! . . . Rogene Lynda <coss@...> wrote: Rogene,Was it 94? I was there so many times I cannot remember. The FDA testimony on silicone was in 91 and 92. Oh, yes, I remember that. I was sick for 6 weeks from the heat and humidity.

I had vertigo walking through the Building.

Did you meet Ralph Nader?

No , I didn't meet Ralph Nader . . . If you did, what did you think of him? Did you meet the man sitting on a rock wall by the sidewalk? . . . He said he had a testicle implant and was having the same problems as we were. He nearby a woman who ripped off her shirt off to show off her plastic boobs! There was another man there who, because of a somewhat peculiar appearance, would stand out in most crowds. He wore a sign saying that his mother had breast implants before he was born. WElcome Cathie! I hope we can help shed some light on your situation. It is so hard to balance these things, especially when you are on drugs like prednisone. Yes, I met the man who had the testicular

implant. I know who the women is who ripped off her shirt.

Nader is a strange dude. I would not vote for

him. He is great in consumer affaris, but politics is not his bailiwick.

That was quite a gathering. There were lots of

us there. We marched down to the White House area with signs.

Cathie ~

I was in a whirlwind of steroids and pain meds in the 90's, and it was horrible ! ! The steroids caused really bad osteoporosis, and the pain meds horrible constipation and hemrrhoids, I always felt I was in a fog, and all the steroids made all my labwork test out incorrectly. At one time I was on valium, neurontin, plaquinil, vicodan, xanax, bentyl, tons of steroids (injections, pills, and trigger point injections) and they wanted me to wear a pain patch ! At the time I was driving 29 miles to work ! ! I finally decided that what they were doing to me was medicating me to keep me sick and they werent getting to any root cause of anything. I had a couple thousand dollars of labwork done a month, saw a rheumatologist, neurologist, eye doctor, and gyn and surgeon once a month, I was only living to work to pay to go to doctors, my quality of life just didnt exist ! ! ! I took a leap of faith, and I just stopped all medications, at first, I got worse, I had to detox off of that toxic crap, I found none of those meds did anything for me anyway, besides keep me sick and give me side effects only to have another pill to help the side effects, one big cycle of pills ! ! Once my body adjusted to my God given state, I was the actually better than on the meds, I did not have the stomach aches, constipation or hemrrhoids, and my mind was much clearer. Boy was that the right decision that I made. I then started meditating, and reading everything I could get my hands on about relaxation methods, and meditating. Then my parents gave me this book and these tapes on the Silva method of mind control. Since insomnia was something I was plagued with as well, I trained myself to go to sleep through Silva's methods. Finally I began to see the light again and have hope. I could tell for sure that what I was doing was the right thing. Another thing that is a good tool, is learning to just be, and to breathe. Breathing is something some of us forget to do sometimes, especially when we dont feel good, or even when we do ! It not only feeds your body needed oxygen, it helps in your relaxation.

When I read your posts of all your challenges, my heart goes out to you, for your pain, and for your courage and your strength. I have found that most women in our group are very strong, careing, kind, supportive and loveing.

I now drink kefir everyday, and for some reason, it gives me energy ! I know that it is doing something wonderful for me !

God Bless You ~ Hugs ~ Dede

Thanks Dede. Sorry you went through all of this. I cannot get off of these !*#%@ steriods. I have been on them now for 15 years. I am unable to stop them, probably because my adrenals no longer function on their own. I have tried repeatedly to get off and at one point was down to one milligram, just prior to aneurysm surgery. That squeched that quickly. The flareup after the insult of surgery required an increase in the steriods and I have never been able to get back down. Currently, I am at 7mg, but I am still giving it a fighting try to get the dose back down.

Current labs reveal almost constant C-Reactive Protein. I suspect that the thyroid removal will cause a much worse reaction than the aneurysm surgery did, because: 1. I found out I could get the aneurysm repair done laprascopically at the Cleveland Clinic-rather than having a large surgical incision, so it wasn't as bad as conventional surgery 2. this time, they are removing something from my body. I cannot imagine trying to adjust the Synthroid dose, recover from the flareup due to surgery and try to get the steroids adjusted properly.

My surgeon is concerned about this too and would like me to wait and have repeat imaging done. The larger mass had increased in less than a month though. I am to see another Endocrinologist next week, then most likely an Endocrine surgeon...

My heart goes out to you. I was on the steroids for 10 years. It wasnt til after I got myself off of them then had a kenalog shot 3 years later that I had such a horrible reaction to it, which was a 2 year stent of being out of remission with my lupus. It was a rough 2 years, but when it passed, I was great til my heart attack, then 8 mos later all my organs started shutting down. Then had steroids IV in the hospital during that, then again when I had my pacemaker/defib put in, and then had a rough 19 mos, but coming out of it right now. I know I will have steroids when I have these implants out, but it will be the very last time I will ever allow them. A matter of fact I am gonna ask the PS if she can use something else, if there is anything. I know blueberries is a great natural anti-imflammatory as well as are other berries............

You are one brave and strong woman ! !

Hugs and Prayers ! !

Rogene ~

She had a slow leak in it, and she had a 2 week migrane that was totally debilitating, then she woke up and her right eye was pointing towards the floor.

The doctors said it was congenital, so it was considered pre-existing, and so they ( insurance company) would not cover much on it. It was over 500 thousand dollars. So she endured much stress over it on top of it all ! ! !

Wow! . . . What a wonderful solution . . . A relative had an aneurysm years ago . . . The surgery left him disabled. Very sad situation. Did they find it before it ruptured? Rogene DGRAHAMA@... wrote: Rogene

You've got to be kidding !!! . . . Pre-existing . . .that she knew nothing about? or had no control over? . . . what about genetics? . . . That would make a host of diseases pre-existing! . . . Sounds like something worth suing over! . . . Or at least bringing the media in on . . . Insurance companies like that should be put out of business! Rogene

My aneurysm was in the left renal artery. I knew I would have a terrible time with such an open surgery. I got on the Internet and found a researcher at the Cleveland Clinic, who was doing research work repairing aneurysms laprascopically in pigs. Yes, pigs... I called him up and asked if he would try to repair mine in this manner. He told me to come on up. Actually, it made medical history as a first. It was pretty exciting and much easier than conventional surgery. I was in the hospital only 2 days.
