Guest guest
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about ovarian cysts... I've been having them burst every few months and wonder if there is any possible connection to the Gleevec. I'm guessing not, but it's just a thought that has crossed my mind.... thanks, chris in minn
Guest guest
Hi I've had ovarian cysts as well. I didn't have any pain but because my Prolactin was three times higher than it should be, we were concerned that I might have an ovarian tumour (ovarian cancer can sometimes elevate Prolactin) which is why I had an ultrasound to check my ovaries. The ultrasound then revealed the cyst which was a corpus luteum cyst. Despite a variety of tests, we never found a cause for the high Prolactin level so I'm inclined to blame Gleevec for that but since many women have ovarian cysts, I'm not really convinced that Gleevec is to blame for those (although it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Gleevec was to blame). Guest guest
Hey All, Not sure if you all saw my post recently about pre-menopause symptoms but I explained that my doctors have told me that my levels where a bit higher than they should be so therefore they decided I was not pre-menopausal? Also From July of last year I was getting my period 3 times a month and finally I convinced them to do an ultrasound since they could not do a pap test. The ultrasound revealed 2 large cyst one on each ovary. The doctors said to leave it alone and then I got my cycle at the end of December at it lasted all the way till I had surgery to get them removed which was on February the 14th. And the only reason I had the surgery was because I literally had to demand it be done or I told them I was going to have a nervous breakdown. ( I really felt that like that psychologically) That had them move quickly! But I guess why I am writing is to say that I am also having these issues and I really think someone needs to start looking at this. Does any one think that Dr. Druker would be interested? So far I have been doing ok but it's only been a few months. However, I notice that I am getting my premenstrual symptoms sooner and more severe again this month. I have to tell you that this reminds me of a situation I will never forget. I lost my only sister to AIDS in 1994 - and a sister in-law in 1997 after only having it for a few years. I know men that have had it for 20 something years but so many women lost their battle so much sooner and they say its because scientist did not study the female body as they did the male body during medical trials. Could the same thing happen to us? ez
