Guest guest
Joy- Sorry to hear of your dx but welcome to the group. You will find a wealth of knowledge and support from people who have walked in your shoes. Don't be afraid to ask questions or vent when you need to. This is a very comfortable place to come to get some answers by the people who know the disease the best, the ones living it each day. I was diagnosed at age 33. (5/13/05). I take Gleevec 800mg per day. I am a wife and mother of 3 small kids but am still living so I have a lot to be thankful for. I do have quite a few side effects from the Gleevec but I am on a pretty high dose. I am thankful for my little gold pills and hope they continue to keep me alive and strong. If I can give you a couple of suggestions. Educate yourself and find a CML specialist not just " a cancer doctor. " They need to be educated on the current treatment of CML. Don't be afraid to ask questions or ruffle some feathers if you need too. Involve your family as they will want to be there to support you. They may not know what to say or do but let them help in anyway they feel they need to. Maybe tell the group where you live and they can point you to a well known MD for you. Best wishes and keep a positive attitude. Hugs 35 CML 5/13/05 PCRU Gleevec 800mg Wife and mother of 3 (11,8,6) ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
