I was wondering if you could share your dose and what symptoms you were

having last year when you where diagnosed? Do you know what % of phillies you

had and what your WBC was? Spleen enlarged, etc?

I am happy to hear about your terrific results and hope for continued

success with Gleevec.

Mid August, 06, I got chronic pain on my left abdomen and had a CT

scan and found out that I had an enlarged spleen with WBC 164. So I

was hospitalized for 5 days because of my fever at that time. My

doctor prescribed me Hydrea for a month and then I switched to

Gleevec 400mg in Early September. My FISH test in Mid December was

negative(It was the first negative of FISH tests I had)

When I was diagnoised, I think my FISH was 96% and my PCR was 3.98%.

I was on between 300mg and 400mg of Gleevec in the first 3 months

because my white cell count goes below 2. But my count stablized at

2.2-2.9 after December. My doctor wanted me to stay on 400mg even

my WBC is low. Just to make sure my ANC is more than 500.

I am so happy with the result. Gleevec gives me some side effects

like fatigue and hunger often. But nothing major compared to

others. I just need to use the side effects and move on with my

life.

Thanks for sharing. Gleevec sounds like it likes you a lot. You are very

lucky. I have had a 3+ log reduction but I do have some pretty bad side

effects, many which I have just accepted as my new way of life but I am on

800mg

too. I think that plays into it. I am hoping in the next 2 months I can get

that down to 400-600mg. I think that will be better for me.
