I was diagnoised in early Aug 06 and have been on Gleevec since Sept 06. He ordered a Quantitative RT-PCR Analysis. Today I called in to the doctor office to see if the result is back. The nurse faxed me the result of " No BCR-ABL translocation was detected in this sample " . I have FISH tests done in Dec 06, Jan and April 07. They all came out negative. Am I in remission? Guest guest
Zavie, I am very happy and surprised with the result. I have a very fast and good response to Gleevec. Is the Quantitative RT-PCR test the final test of the disease? Is there any other tests after Quantitative RT-PCR to be done? Thanks. > > Hi , > > O!!! YIPPEEE!!! > > Yes indeed you are PCRU. Guest guest
hey everybody. i just got on this chat thing and it sounds like everybody is benifiting from these new drugs. thats just wonderful!! congrats to all. i started on gleevic when i was diagnosed in june of 95.not sure what my dose was, but we knew within 2 months it wasn't working. i built a resistance to it almost emediately. my bmb at this time was 87%. then i was put in a study in omaha on a drug called sprycel. ever since my numbers have reduced to .05% is that close enough to be in the zero club? --------------------------------- Building a website is a piece of cake. Guest guest
Hi , Hi , Yes, the QRT-PCR is the most sensitive test we have today. You should be able to live a normal and productive life with this result. I firmly believe (HOPE) that we will see a cure for this disease within 10-20 years. Guest guest
Complete Cyetogenic response. When the sample of white blood cells are reviewed none exhibit the CML characteristics/translocation. --- <stephenraymoore@...> wrote: > what is ccr? > > --------------------------------- > Luggage? Guest guest
Hi , is correct; it stands for Complete Cytogenic Response. I usually associate this term with the BMA or BMB test. BMA: Bone Marrow Aspiration, BMB: Bone Marrow Biopsy. With this test they examine 20 cells. If you are 0/20 by this test, you make it into the Zero Club. We know that you can be Zero via this test but not Zero with the more sensitive tests (FISH, PCR). We also know that even though you are Zero by the most sensitive RT-PCR test and you stop taking Gleevec that you will eventually relapse. I see the Zero Club as a club of HOPE. When we are first diagnosed, joining the Zero Club is a milestone that you want to achieve. This is the first indication that you will be able to live a pretty normal life even though you still have that nasty CML bug in your system. Guest guest
Hi , Are you saying that you were only on Gleevec for 2 months before you were switched to Sprycel and that the only reason you were switched to Sprycel was because the Gleevec wasn't working? That seems odd to me since 2 months isn't a very long time to see how it will work. Most doctors will wait at least 6 months or even a year before they determine if a drug is working or not.
