Guest guest
, I paid $506 for each PCR at OHSU. However, there was a recent increase to $521. Your onc will know the lab Kaiser uses for PCRs. You can also get a copy of the PCR report from your husband's onc. The report will state the lab. Then you can contact the lab if you want more information. I was with Kaiser for 30 years but felt more comfortable going to a comprehensive cancer center after diagnosis. That's why I switched to UCSD. Before the switch I asked UCSD about the PCR sensitivity and was told that it was 1:100,000. Wrong! So it was quite a shock to get my first PCR result in January and find out the sensitivity was only 1:1000. I no longer think it was necessary to have left Kaiser! I have seen Dr. Druker twice. Yes, it is definitely an additional expense, but worth it. My best to you and your husband, JoAnn > > > > > > > > Hi Mark and Marcos, > > > > > > > > Anytime a number is that low it's a good thing but I'm not sure how > > > > significant it is if the PCR's sensitivity was only 1 in 1,000. > > > > > > > > By definition, the famous 3 log reduction that we're all aiming for > > > > (which is how they define a major molecular response) , is a > > > > reduction in transcripts by 1000 fold.
