However, I had fusions without hardware, then with hardware later in life (2000, 2001, 2005, etc.) that has cause terrible back pain, Sciatica, and fatigue. You need to stress what things you cannot do anymore (like I can't sit or stand for very long, cannot walk far, etc.) that would impact work. I thought you had to have our doctor write a letter, but instead, you fill out a form, authorizing them to look at your medical records. One of their doctors briefly examined me. They held it up to submit all my records to a specialist doctor. Instead of the 3 mos. they told me it would take to get an answer, it took 5 mos. After all that time, I only got $1,200 a month. I had been making $75,000 a year during the dot com era. Oh, well, it's something. Good luck, I didn't need an attorney, so apply first without one, you might get it through that way, and then get to keep all the back pay. Guest guest
Vicki, Keep appealing, I was dx'ed in 04 and just was finally approved this year, so it can be a drawn out process for some of us. As I have said in other post, the paper pushers see " remission " and stamp deny without taking the side effects of staying in remission in mind. You should get it but it may take a while, just hang in there. You may seek the help of a lawyer or a third party company as I did to help you. The reason I got help was that I was being paid Long Term Disability payments by Aetna and they did not want to have to pay the full amount they were contracted to until 2031..lol. If you need any further help with questions feel free to email within the group or privately. The bad side of having a lawyer or third party help you is they will get a portion of your retro pay. So make sure you understand how much they expect to receive before you sign anything for anyone to help you.
