Dear friends,

6th May: National HIV Testing Day

" Greetings from INP+ "

Indian Network for People living with HIV / AIDS (INP+) is eight years old on

6th May 2005. Started by twelve dynamic people living with HIV, INP+ today has a

membership of over 10,000 people. To celebrate the birth of a national movement

of people living with HIV, INP+ announces May 6 as the " National HIV Testing

Day " in India. This campaign is an attempt by INP+ to reach out to the all the

people who do not know their HIV status with a message " Knowing your status is

always better " .

Testing for HIV also means that you care for your health and you care for your

loved ones. The campaign is to remind people that there is a life after HIV

infection, a life that can be lived positively like thousands of INP+ members.

ARV drugs and treatment has enhanced the quality of life for those who have

tested and known that they are living with HIV/AIDS.

As part of this initiative, the staff of INP+ is going in for voluntary

counseling and testing at Government Hospital for Thoracic Medicine, Tambaram

We invite all of you who are working in the field of HIV/AIDS to be part of this

initiative:

Following are some of the ways that you can be involved.

a. If you are part of an organization, organize a testing campaign in your

organization.

b. Organize testing campaigns in your local recreational/health/social welfare

clubs.

c. If you are an individual, get yourself tested.

d. Motivate local bodies like recreational clubs/health clubs/social welfare

clubs to organize the campaign in their clubs.

e. Spread the news.
