Started by twelve dynamic people living with HIV, INP+ today has a membership of over 10,000 people. To celebrate the birth of a national movement of people living with HIV, INP+ announces May 6 as the " National HIV Testing Day " in India. This campaign is an attempt by INP+ to reach out to the all the people who do not know their HIV status with a message " Knowing your status is always better " . Testing for HIV also means that you care for your health and you care for your loved ones. The campaign is to remind people that there is a life after HIV infection, a life that can be lived positively like thousands of INP+ members. ARV drugs and treatment has enhanced the quality of life for those who have tested and known that they are living with HIV/AIDS. As part of this initiative, the staff of INP+ is going in for voluntary counseling and testing at Government Hospital for Thoracic Medicine, Tambaram We invite all of you who are working in the field of HIV/AIDS to be part of this initiative: Following are some of the ways that you can be involved. a. If you are part of an organization, organize a testing campaign in your organization. b. Organize testing campaigns in your local recreational/health/social welfare clubs. c. If you are an individual, get yourself tested. d. Motivate local bodies like recreational clubs/health clubs/social welfare clubs to organize the campaign in their clubs. e. Spread the news.
