Guest guest
Hi Friends: It has been a while since I have posted but I do have a question for my friends in th CML world. I saw my onocolgist Wednesday, and received the results of my lastest Pcr and Fish.Over the last year my fish and Pcr has been negative, the last several test, my fish has come back negative but the PCR is showing an increase. I went from an 0.01% result three months ago to a 0.4% increase this time. My Dr has told me that the leukemia is coming back. What do these results mean.? I have been off gleevec for a little over three months because of issues with maintaining my weight. They have ruled out any cause of my weight loss, blaming it in the gleevec I was on and depression. My Dr. took another pcr and fish test at my visit on wednesday but I won't have the results back for another two weeks. Once I am back from my trip to Greece (yay), I will be starting the new drug sprycel. Does anyone know what the side effects of these drugs are? What can I expect? Also, Just before, I came of Gleevec, I had just gotten my three month supply of Gleevec from my insurance company. I have three full months of Gleevec, still unopened. I know with the cost of these drugs, that is a lot of money to throw away. I can't do it. Does anyone know of anyone who needs them. E-mail me privately and let me know. Guest guest
Hi , Your results are not surprising. If you don't treat your CML, it will come back. What troubles me with your situation is what your doctor's thinking was by having you stop Gleevec and not prescribing any other CML drug. It is definitely time to get to a CML expert for treatment. Weight gain rather than weight loss is a side effect of Gleevec. For information on Sprycel, I suggest you go to the Sprycel Discussion list at http://www.newcmldrug.com/bms_discuss/default.asp Zavie Zavie (age 69) 67 Shoreham Avenue Ottawa, Canada, K2G 3X3 dxd AUG/99 INF OCT/99 to FEB/00, CHF No meds FEB/00 to JAN/01 Gleevec since MAR/27/01 (400 mg) CCR SEP/01. #102 in Zero Club 2.8 log reduction Sep/05 3.0 log reduction Jan/06 2.9 log reduction Feb/07 3.2 log reduction Jun/07 e-mail: zmiller@... Guest guest
Hey , yep, it is me, Chris. Things are much better these days. I feel as though I am more than over the hump with more or less, accepting CML as part of my life, rather than letting it 100% control my life, as in the beginning. I feel as though I am back in control of things. I hope to be posting some PCR results any day. I know the results are in, just a little mix on getting them too me. But, blood counts have been steady for months, so much so my Onc has cut me back as of last week to a visit in 90 days, rather than the monthly monitoring we had been doing the last several months.
