Hi Marcos,

Thanks for the links. I'm also very interested in this issue and

will do some more digging in the coming days. I think this is a very

important issue to consider seeing as we're going to be on Gleevec

(or some other such drug) for the rest of our lives. We obviously

wnat to be aware of anything that can interact.

Garlic was mentioned in the links you provided but I wonder if this

was referring to high dose garlic supplements or the usual clove that

many of us would use in cooking?

I'll let you know if I find anything else out that might be of

interest as I hope everyone else will do as well.

Some drugs notices with similar pathways interactions than our drugs

(digested by p450 enzymes like CYP3xy, x=A,B,.., y=1,2,3,4) mention

than taking the pills with a rich meals (fatty, heavy in proteins or

calories) can increase the drug plasma level 6 fold, some other drugs

notices say it can decrease the plasma level of the drug. For those in

contact with the top league cml drs, it may be a question worth

asking.

Hi Marcos,

I've seen a few articles mention that high fat foods have been

studied with Gleevec intake and had little to no effect on plasma

concentrations.

Here's one link that says the mean absolute bioavailability was 98%

and that it was not affected by fatty food:

http://www.bccancer.bc.ca/HPI/DrugDatabase/DrugIndexPro/Imatinib.htm

And here's another link that says that the rate of absorption was

minimally reduced when taken with a high fat meal:

http://www.health.gov.il/units/pharmacy/trufot/alonim/403.pdf
