Dear FORUM, Greetings from Dr B.Sathyanarayanan.

The Maharashtra Government has decided to ban night clubs in Mumbai, thus

sealing the income of nearly 75,000 dance girls and subsequently their family

members will be starving. On a mere outward appearence, this may appear as a

welcome step preventing thousands of middle income and high income group people

in going to night clubs.

But going deep into the matter, it will have lot of adverse affects.

Night clubs are another alternative to entertain people who wish to avoid go to

Red-light areas. It is only an entertainment and it helps spread of HIV/AIDS.

The evil of prostitution is much less though not completely nil.

Chances of multi partner sex is prevailing in all the fields of life. Night

clubs are not the only place to give the opportunity. In fact, it is another

alternative to avoid prostitution.

Girls working in night clubs normally belong to low but regular income group. A

family is behind each one of them. Now 75000 families are not earning their

daily bread. Very unfortunately, the next viable opportunity will only be

prostitution and they will be driven to that line.

Hence, the Maharashtra Government should reconsider the total ban and

re-introduce with striingent laws as needed.
