Guest guest
I haven't had to deal with the surgery, but have had the other. When I first went on Gleevec in March 2003 I had to take a short vacation for about 3-4 weeks to allow my Platlets and WBC to rebuild back to the normal range. Last Oct. the WBC remained in the Normal range 5-6000 while my HGB fell below 8 and would not rebuild. I was had transfusions every 3 weeks for six months while my counts rose to above 9 after the transfusion and would again head back down. I am currently on vacation and the WBC is holding 5-6000 and the HBG is headed back up on its own. My RT-QPCR tests are also indicating the the Phillies are also remaining at .001. As a test of one that is progessing, I would allow your ONC to guide you progress and with careful supervision it should work for you. Due to a chronic ear problem, I have to have surgery on my ear. My Oncologist is concerned because of my low platelet count (low 70s) and low WBC (about 2400) and neutrophil counts (low 1200s). > > She said that I might have to go off the Gleevec for a while to boost my counts back up. > > Has anyone had to deal with this ? I am scared and depressed and would love to hear some feedback and support. > > Thank you > > >
