" Thanks for the summary Dr. Schneider....however, from what I can gather of the argument and evidence presented, to me it looks like they are trying to discuss why chiropractic DOESN'T work 'like it should'.... Guest guest
Good afternoon all, I hope you are having a good weekend. I wanted to clarify for our friend, Dr. Pederson. This whole " Welker-McLagan " episode has nothing to do with Chiropractic not working. I DO believe in Chiropractic. I DO believe manipulation works. Otherwise, I wouldn't still be here, nor would those of you who have been practicing for years. It comes down to fact that I, me, Dr. McLagan and Dr. Welker, do not believe in malposition/fixation/subluxation. That is MY opinion. Healthy, freely moving spinal segments will cavitate whether they are " fixated " or in " malposition " or not. I do believe patient get better from manipulation, but I choose to manipulate for reasons that are obviously different then most of yours. We can either have a professional discussion about this, sit back and read the messages and do nothing, as most have done (which is fine) or continue to be defensive and attack me for having an opinion. Of the 270 or so DC's on here, there have been around 5 or 6 of you who continue to battle this idea rather than professionally discuss the matter. And there are a couple of you who have seem to get off of the topic and start discussing experience. Let's either get back to discussing why or why not subluxation/malposition/fixation works or lets move on. I did not get on this list serve to start a fight and gain enemies. I did so to start a discussion and get your opinion, especially those who have been at it for so many years. Once again, you may either continue the discussion professionally, get defensive and fight back and attack me, or we can move on to other topics. In response to the QuachwatchMD: I don't feel we should get defensive and fight back. Perhaps we should do as Dr. Fuchs suggested and point out the good, or we should start by looking in the mirror and do our best to avoid Quackery on our part. I believe it takes place in all professions, not just the health care providers but I feel our fist step should be to change ourselves and Chiropractic as a whole. (just to clarify, I am not stating any of you are quacks) Shad McLagan D.C. > > re: " I would advice Dr. McLagan and his cohorts to get at least a few > years of experience under their belts treating real patients and > studying other chiropractic techniqeus before attempting to establish a > new unified theory of how and why chiropractic works. Guest guest
Dr. s has already addressed this conclusively: Folks, I pretty-much think the curtain in front of the "Welker-McLagan Model" has been pulled back to reveal nothing more (but nothing less!) than various components of the Subluxation Complex. So, I really hope that we can finally put this puppy to rest... In regards to "professional" discourse on this matter as opposed to the "attacking of your theory and calling you names times." Ya reap what you sow. You're not exempt from this behavior and it could be argued fueled and instigated it many times. ph Medlin, DC Spine Tree Chiropractic1627 NE Alberta St.Portland, OR 97211 Re: opinion, opinion, opinion....
