Guest guest
Dear Oregon Doctors; I need to correct two statements that have been floating around our state that I am given credit for making, both are not true. It has been stated following the January 2006 MLAC meeting in Portland that I testified before the MLAC committee hearing that ODOC does not want full attending Workers Compensation treatment status. That is not true, what I did state is that we would gladly except full attending treatment status, but I do not believe it will be offered to us. Our studies prove we are most cost effective over a 90 day period using 24 visits. I also testified that something will need to allow for additional care, when necessary. Also stating that the HMO concept has failed and in order for WC reform to work this gatekeeper concept will need changing. Current I am legislative chairperson and Vice-president of ODOC. As our association representative I personally asked CAO's legislative person after the last Oregon legislative session to join us during this interim period and to prepare for the next session to work on legislative issues. That Doctor stated that CAO did not want to work with us. To set the record straight; ODOC once again will introduce out two bills. WC expansion concept from 12 and 30 days to 24 visits over 90 days. The second will the be the Any Willing Provider Bill. Additionally we will introduce and or support legation that will benefit our state. Our association is spending a great deal of money on these issues that will improve the health of everyone in this state. If you believe we are on the correct direction consider giving us a hand, but do not believe the " POOP " for one minute that I would do anything to harm MY profession. Yours Truly; P. Setera DC.
