Guest guest
Hi , My name is . 42 diagnosed in 2000 I had one year of interferon and ARC injections while waiting for gleevec to be approved. I live in Tampa and go to Moffitt annually only to stay in touch with the center in the event I needed to participate in any type trial. I had no luck joining the gleevec trial in my first year there. Dr List is the Dr I see when I do go there. My oncologist is Dr Al-Hassani @ University Hematology & Oncology his office is located directly across from Moffitt on Fletcher Ave. He’s great! And my PCR and BMB’s are sent to Genzyne Genetics. From my research they have the most updated equipment necessary for sensitive testing. Even when Moffitts lab says no detection (and it always does) and Genzyne says there is a slight detection I know what lab to follow and that’s Genzyne. But as long as they both report that I still maintain over a 3 log reduction I know I’m ok. I’ve been on 400 mgs of Gleevec since 2001 as soon as it was FDA approved and I am doing well. Still some side affects but not too much to complain about compared to the old days. I have a career and work full time since being on Gleevec . I have children, grandchildren and a fiancé. Just curious, why did you switch to sprycel? Did you participate in the trial at Moffitt or did you get it once it was approved by the FDA? ez
