Guest guest
Hey Everyone- Happy new year! Hope this year finds everyone with much happiness and stable health. Congrats again and for your terrific news. Your in all of our thoughts and prayers. I have a question for those of you that are on disability here in the USA. Does anyone work at all while on it? I was put on disability last year while on Gleevec as I was not tolerating it very well. I haven't worked at all since being put on the disability. However, I am now on Spyrcel and doing better yet still having many side effects just not to the degree with the Gleevec. I would like to work, some little hours here and there on my good days. I was thinking maybe substituting at my children's school. The way they do subs is they look at the available slots in the morning and sign up for any available spots. That way, if all goes well on a particular day and I feel up to it, I could work that day. I need to be in control of the days and not have something scheduled as I never know what I am waking up too, and that even if I had an uneventful night. (I just got done 2 days ago with fluid retention of 7 pounds, shortness of breath, and another round of dehydration).... He wants to see me again next week, maybe I need a lesser dose? I don't want to do anything to lose my disability as there is no way I could work full time at this time. I am a nurse but don't want to work around sick people and couldn't spend that much time on my feet again. If anyone has experience with this, I sure would appreciate their input. Also, it seems my already bad memory with Gleevec is worse on Spyrcel. Does anyone have any input on this. I am having to rely on my children to remind me of things, I forget what people tell me and worse yet, every time I cook, I leave the stove on.... this is happening more and more lately. My husband came in yesterday and said, " you left the oven on again Jen " and my reply was, can you check the 2 front burners because I used them too. Sure enough, they were both on too!! I am afraid I am going to burn the house down. I now put a huge sign on the microwave above the stove to remind me. This seems silly that I cant remember things but I am not sure its getting any better on Spyrcel, maybe even worse. I am 35 and feel like I have a memory of a 90 year old? I was wondering if anyone else has experienced things like this or am I just really losing my mind. Literally! peace, hugs and hope- 35 CML 5/13/05 Spyrcel 100mg Gleevec 800mg until 8/07 Wife and mother of 3 (12,8,7 today!) Happy birthday Jaxon!!! **************Start the year off right.
