Guest guest
Yeah, a real tenacious bug has been going around here too (SF Bay Area), hanging on for weeks and requiring antibiotics. Guest guest
Hi , I often wonder about colds. CML is supposed to suppress the immune system but over the years I don't get more colds than I did without the CML. They seem to last a bit longer, but only by a couple of days. Guest guest
I find that I actually catch less colds now than I did beore CML. I suspect that part of the reason is because now I'm more vigillent to wash my hands and avoid sick people as well as the fact that my kids are older now and not bringing home every bug in the world like when they were in elementary school. There have been a few times now that everyone in my house was sick with colds and yet I never got it so I really can't say that my immune system works any less than it should. Guest guest
Funny this thread should come up now--, Luke and I are all recovering from a cold....again. Seems like we get one every month or so. And when one of us gets it, goes around to all of us, including 's parents who help us out a lot with Luke. And, yes, used to get colds every now and again but I think since we have a 20-month old, it just seems like we are always sick, sometimes we think gets colds more often cuz of the CML, but the fact that we have a toddler is probably the reason. actually seems to be fighting them pretty well. In fact, in December, Luke and I both got pretty nasty colds... escaped it - we were amazed by that! Luckily, is now over the cold and Luke and I are almost done...'s skull surgery is Tuesday, and thankfully, looks like he will be all recovered and healthy for the surgery! From: traceyincanada@... Guest guest
Same thing here, rather less colds than before dx, it was really bad the couple of years before dx. And they are not worst than for people around me. Once we are in cytogenetic remission the vast majority of our white cells are normal so the only thing that may be downing the immune response is our drug if you get neutropenia. I also dive in waters not so clean and don't have problems, the only precaution I take is to rinse my ears with some eardry product (alcohol with 5% glycerin) after getting out of the water. I won't worry as long as I have normal blood counts. Marcos. I think because I'm a bit obsessive about hand washing especially in winter. I hope saying it doesn't jinx me.
