Guest guest
Hi , I've heard of many members getting shingles over the years. It's supposed to be quite painful and miserable. Anybody who has had chicken pox in their life can get shingles later on so I don't think it has much to do with Gleevec. You need to start treatment with an antiviral drug within 2 or 3 days and I don't think you need to stop taking Gleevec. If you think you have shingles, go see your doctor ASAP so you can start the treatment. The faster you start the antiviral drug, the more effective it is. Goodluck and let us know how you are, Tracey > > > Have anyone had shingles while taking gleevec? If so what treatment for shingles you have been taking and did you have to stop gleevec?I have been taking 400 mg of Gleevec for the last 4 years. I am in remission. Please let me know > > dxd 2003 > >
Guest guest
Thank you Tracey. I just came from my doctor office now. He think it is poison Ivey that get worse with other infection. I feel itchy in other places on my body but I have one big visible red spot. He gave me antibiotic and creme. If the rush and pain don't stop in a week, he will see me again. I will let you know. Thanks you again for your reply, I hope you doing well too. -------------- Original message -------------- From: " Tracey " <traceyincanada@...> Hi , I've heard of many members getting shingles over the years. Guest guest
I had shingles while on Sprycel. I started out on Gleevec but had to change due to liver function problems. I had pain in shoulders and back and chest for about 2 months before it popped. The drs thought it was artiritis. All of a sudden it popped out and My ono gave me the antiviral shot with 48 hours. I think it really helped shorten the duration of the actural eruption. I still have pain for a couple of months after the rash was gone. It did eventually subside. I stayed on my sprycel the whole time. The only thing the dr. did differently is check my blood counts more frequently particularly the biliribun count since I had problems in the past. Everything turned out fine and I am in a good remission. My counts have all been within normal range for about 11 months now. Just had a Bone Marrow test yesterday. Dr. is confident the remission will be a deep one which is the goal. Best of luck to you. The shingles were a real pain literallty..
