Guest guest
Hi Deloni, I have no idea why they would have done this particular type of FISH test on you. Either they suspected that you had another disease or they just mixed up the test. The good news is that you don't appear to have any of the diseases that are related to these chromosomes (16 and 22) but the bad news is that it tells you nothing about your CML. In order to get an idea of what your CML is doing, they need to look at the BCR/ABL rearrangement on chromosomes 9 and 22 which they didn't do on this test. I suggest you ask your doctor why this test was done and not the usual FISH that looks for BCR/ABL. Goodluck, Tracey > > Hi, > I am confused about my FISH results and was hoping some of the great people on the board can help interpret the reults. They are as follows: Interphase cells:200 > Peripheral Cells:0 > FISH results: Negative for 16q22 rearrangement by FISH nuc ish (CBFBx2) (200) Interpretation and Comments: > The FISH study showed no evidence of a CBFB (16q22) rearrangement, inv(16) or t(16;16), seen in acute myelomonocytic leukemia with eosinophilia, less commonly in other forms of acute myeloid leukemia, and rarely myelodysplastic syndrome. A normal hybridization signal was detected in more than 98% of onterphase cells analyzed. To be considered positive, a " break apart " FISH pattern should be detected in 3% or more cells. This test will not detect other cytogenetic abnormalities that may have clinical significance. These reults should be considered incomonation with other standard cytogenic results as well as other clinical and hematological data. > Here is why I am confused. What does 16 and 22 have to do with this? I thought they were looking for 9 and 22? I think this is very good news, but I am confused about the whole 16/22 thing. Someone please help. Guest guest
Hi Lori, Is it just possible that the lab mistook the 9 22 test for a 16 22 test? Guest guest
Zavie, Thanks for the response. I found out they did in fact make an error on the test. I found out from Shands that the lab messed up. Oh well. Hope I still have a good result. Thanks, Dennis ________________________________ From: Zavie [mailto:zmiller@...] Sent: Wednesday, October 03, 2007 12:00 AM Subject: [ ] Re: Can someone please help me with my FISH results Hi Lori, Is it just possible that the lab mistook the 9 22 test for a 16 22 test?
