Guest guest
After being on Gleevec for 3 mos I have begun getting headaches, the Doctor said I couldn't take Tylenol as it was tough on the liver. Any suggestions? I have the puffy eyes too I read that may go away, how long does it normally take? I also have trouble with my eye watering??? other than that I feel great!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
-- My husband (while on Gleevec) had the EXACT same thing you describe---the deep pain behind one eye. It would literally take him out for a couple hours, he always had to go into a dark room and lie down. It did end up getting less and less over time...hopefully that is what will happen with you. Good luck-- Cervera @...: rodorbal@...: Thu, 25 Oct 2007 10:01:36 +1000Subject: RE: [ ] Headaches Hi Donna,I’ve just had my first month of Glivec and since day 3 have had awfulheadaches. At times I get stabbing blinding pain over a particular eye, aswell as general frontal headaches and my eyes very sensitive to light, blurry at times and of course wonderfully puffy – can’t see my uppereyelashes!I looked up Tylenol and it is based on paracetamol (acetaminophen in theUS). I was surprised when my haem/t told me I could take up to 6 a day as itwas less irritant to the liver than ibuprofen. The paracetamol was reallydoing nothing, so when I went to my GP last week, he said I could addcodeine to it as it wouldn’t affect the liver and that certainly has helpeda lot. I am taking tablets that have 500mg paracetamol and 10mg codeinephosphate – the codeine has helped for the diarrheoa and queasy tummy too.I know everyone is different in what they can take and allowed to take, butperhaps you could ask him/her about something with codeine in it?Regards,_____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Ofdonnaberry99Sent: Thursday, 25 October 2007 3:53 AM@...: [ ] HeadachesAfter being on Gleevec for 3 mos I have begun getting headaches, the Doctor said I couldn't take Tylenol as it was tough on the liver. Ibuprofen is known to be hard on the kidneys but not so much the liver and acetaminophen is specifically contraindicated with Gleevec due to the fact that Gleevec inhibits the glucorinidation of acetaminophen (which could make the acetaminophen rise to toxic levels when taken with Gleevec). See http://www.hemonctoday.com/200602/potential.asp and you'll see the caution about taking acetaminophen but nothing is mentioned about ibuprofen. Most of us have been told to avoid acetaminophen unless we can't take ibuprophen due to low platelets or stomach ulners. Take care, Tracey

Guest guest
My puffy eyes took about 4 years to start going away but I would still get it back when it was time for my menstrual cycle. Funny thing is I have had them back for about 2 weeks straight now, but I haven't been feeling great either. I was told I have the flu but its 2 weeks today and I still feel lousy. CBC's were fine but I'm still a bit worried. ez
Guest guest
Hi Tameria,Doubt this will help (or give you any hope, for that matter) but I've had a permanant headache for the last 8 years - intensity doesn't change and there's no break in pain.Regards, KyFrom: nativejoyo510 <nativejoyo510@...>Subject: blepharophimosis headachesblepharophimosis Received: Monday, 1 March, 2010, 1:18 PM Hello all, I was wondering if anyone, children or adults, who have BPES have been experiencing headaches or migraines. I usually have them for several days in a row every now and again, so I was wondering if there was any ties. If so, how long do they last, how severe are they, etc. Thx, Tameria CO, USA

Guest guest
Yeah, interesting. I had chronic migraines, usually once a month, up until my late 20s. I still get one very seldomly, but around 30 they stopped being so regular. I was also born with a little hole in the heart (co-arctatiion of the aorta -- yippee!!) so figured they might be related to that. But maybe it was BPES. They're horrible, especially explaining to an employer why you were fine in the morning but suddenly have to go home, very quickly. But you can manage them.
