Guest guest
Hi We are all different, but I wanted to share my experiences. - The first time I had a BMB I was in shock it was the day I was confirmed to have CML. The Dr could have hit me with a sledge hammer and I would not have noticed. - The second time I was uptight and it was unpleasant. I think hearing the sound of the " Tools " working into my bones was the whole issue. Pain wise, I had a local agent applied and never felt a thing physically. I played basketball the next morning. - From then on, I insist that the Dr tell me about his kids or his vacation plans while we go through the procedure. That reduces my focus on the sound. - I would suggest you bring in an ipod and put on some relaxing music. My suggestion - the Beach Boys Pet Sounds! Good luck! --- ets618 <ets618@...> wrote: > Have any of you used the Fentanyl lollipop for > BMB's? Did it control > the pain? Guest guest
My first BMB was done in the Dr. office under a local. It was very painful. The second BMB was done in the hospital and I was out. That is the only way to go from now on. The bad news is that the hospital bill is $5,817.32. I don't know how much of that Medicare and my supplement will pay. Hopefully, a great deal. ets618 <ets618@...> wrote: Have any of you used the Fentanyl lollipop for BMB's? Did it control the pain? I have a friend who will be having one this month and is very frightened. I have always had only local numbing so can't help her with this. Happy New Year, everyone!! Guest guest
Ellen, Fentanol, definitely Fentanol AND anything else that they can give you for the discomfort. Not everyone responds/reacts to the BMB in the same way. I tend to experience a great deal of pain following the procedure (I'm out with conscious sedation during it) and the recovery time for me is diminished if I walk a lot immediately. hopefully your friend won't have any pain or very little, but if she has the option I recommend she take whatever is offered. Guest guest
Hi Ellen, Here's another option. For various reasons they gave up o my hip bones so now I get mi bmbs from the sternum. The pain killer is same old lydocaine but it works ve4y well for me. There is some pain but nothihng like I hd in my hips. Your doctor has to be certified because of course he has that needle right over your heart! But my onc is great and this is a much less painful method for me. L Re: [ ] Sedation for BMB?
