Guest guest
ALL, I spoke with a local PT clinic I work with and they said the reimbursements with UHC are: (This is as of August 2006 and for the Portland Metro area). US - 15 mins= $17-49 Unattended EMS 15 min= $20.14 Manual therapy 15 min = $37.63 cold/hot packs 15 min = $6.36 Exercise therapy 15 min= $40.81 This is only if the deductable is met, and there is no copay. Each plan varies. I would ask that Vern fwd this to Ferrante for the CAO and anyone from ODOC please fwd to Schmidt. Could everyone with connections, please ask other PTs what they are getting reimbursed? Fwd that information to Ferrante and Schmidt to help them with the research. It would help if we had a better comparison in other parts of the state with UHC only, since that's our question at hand. Once this information is gathered, our state associations can take the info and address it with insurance commission and/or state legislature. This is a good subject to turn over to state associations for professional advocacy issues. Maybe the professional associations can ban together to present this issue of unequal fees to state legislature. I'm not sure if the insurance commission would be a place to go with this. As a state board we are not involved in professional advocacy, only public protection. Please don't think that as an indivdual we aren't interested in the profession. It;s just that we have so many complaints to deal with. COmbine that with meetings around the country and internationally to compare standards, laws, rulings, comparisons with other professions and we are nearly tapped out to tackle this type of issue. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. MInga Guerrero DC president OBCE In a message dated 10/19/2006 1:34:56 P.M. Does anyone know how much UHC reimburses PTsand hospitals for the same service? If it is the samethe ultrasound manufacturer's would be screamingbloody murder. I do not hear those voices. I thinkthe reimbursements vary by profession. The conspiracy theorist in me makes me wonder if thisis another piece of the puzzle to eliminatechiropractors. Guest guest
Absolutely Dan, couldn't agree more. I think the time is now for us to stop any interprofessional bickering and come together for the survival (not just the benefit) of our great profession. Dr. ph Medlin D.C.
