Guest guest
I have a question for those of you that are on disability here in the USA. Does anyone work at all while on it? I was put on disability last year while on Gleevec as I was not tolerating it very well. I haven't worked at all since being put on the disability ____________________ Hi , A couple bits of info for you. Supposedly Sprycel does cross the blood brain barrier (and Gleevec does not). This is one reason why some people think that some people starting on Sprycel get the bad headaches....maybe it is killing off some leukie cells in the brain?? About the work situation. Talk to someone from Social Security. I think there is a 'return to work' program, where you can start working part-time and not lose any of your SS money.....then if it does not work out, you can just stop working. When I first had CML, I was off work, then returned to work 1/2 time when I went on Gleevec and did a program like this. I worked 4 more years part time....now I am on Sprycel and am not working (a combo of retirement and disability). I am always glad to read that you are doing so much better on Sprycel. I would have to say that my memory/concentration is not worse on Sprycel than it was on Gleevec, in fact maybe it was worse on Gleevec. On Gleevec, there would be many instances when I could not think of the 'right' word, or maybe know how to spell it.....I think this is a memory problem rather than concentration. And others reported this same type of problem. For a while I would write with a dictionary handy, which I never needed before. C.
Guest guest
I work 2 days a week and am on disability, although through my work not social security. I have been on disability since diagnosis in oct of 02. My disability company is making me go in for a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)...I don't know what it is but I think they are trying to prove that I can work. From what I can gather it's an evaluation of what physical work I can do. I'm kind of worried about it. If anyone has any information on one of these or has had one I would appreciate it. :} Cogan <ncogan@...> wrote: I have a question for those of you that are on disability here in the USA.
