Guest guest
Hi Lottie, Thanks for your insights into my situation. I appreciate it! Life IS Great and I'm getting a whole new perspective on everything. Thanks again for the boost. I'm baxck on Sprycel and doing fine in the first three days on my regular dose of 100 mg. Much stronger and leaner than when this landslide started. Now I'm making sculptures wwith the rocks that came tumbling into my life all at once. It's all about .love and care here in Virginia. Hope it is where you are, too! Cheers, L [ ] Life is Great Dear , Glad you are feeling better and think you might live. We all have those days, but I always think of Annie's song " Tomorrow " : " The sun will come up tomorrow, tomorow....... " I remember my first days on Sprycel. If you can stick with it, it gets better, but I was one of those who couldn't tolerate the maximum dose. I had pneumonia, pericardial and pleural effusions, the same as a few I know, but everyone doesn't have the same side effects, so for some, the drug is very effective. I know one who got off because of this, but couldn't tolerate Tasigna and is now back on Sprycel. You have to be monitored very closely. There are treatments to overcome this (Lasix and Prednisone), there is a procedure to remove the fluid from the lining of the lung and another to keep the fluid out, but if there is another drug of choice, I personally would go for that. It is painful. I know 2 people who went through it. Do look out for and take some " me " time. Hope you continue to feel better and be well. Cheers, Lottie
Guest guest
Congrats, ! I love your statement that reads: " Now I'm making sculptures with the rocks that came tumbling into my life. " That is what life is all about...learning how to learn from the difficulties life throws at you! I know for and I our life is actually much fuller because of CML...we have built many many sculptures, and I hope those sculptures will stand the test of time and enable our son to learn from them too! Life is Great, keep up the good thoughts and hang in there! @...: seloew12@...: Thu, 14 Feb 2008 11:06:54 -0500Subject: Re: [ ] Life is Great Hi Lottie,Thanks for your insights into my situation. Guest guest
Hi ! Thanks so much for your note. It gave me that extra bounce this morning! So important, especially to CMLers who live alone and facing that challenge with the support of other people who understand how it can be. You hang in there, too! I'm off to start my active day after having arisen at 6:30 this a.m. and watching the news and ready the newspaper! I'm also off to get a blood test after going back on Sprycel. Love to All, L. Guest guest
Hello , Your statement that you are closer now with CML than you were before is exactly the result I am seeing in my relationship with my boyfriend who was recently diagnosed with CML. We loved each other before, but now we realize the preciousness of each day: we are closer and we spend much more time together. We laugh, tease each other, and forgive each other our weaknesses because we know how deep the roots of our love have grown. Who has time to be injured by the silly things which only weeks ago would have been a mountain to us. Adversity can either strengthen or weaken us and our relationships. Thank God, it seems as though CML gives as well as takes from us. We also are going through the trial of no insurance. Your letter has given us the realization that all things can be handled with strength. God bless you. Sandie -- ---- Cervera <weez_555@...> wrote: > > Congrats, ! Guest guest
Hi, Sandie, Thanks so much for writing. It really means a lot to hear from another CMer who has faced the challenges and seen over the years how this road can take you with all the research that is being done and how many more options we have that were not available until Imatinib was approved by the FDA. I was one of the fortunate ones to benefit from that progress and even though I'm now on dastinib the future definitely looks brighter than it did just a few years ago. My self-confidence has suffered in many ways but my self-esteem has not. Even with the challenges, I know that the world is changing everyday in both good and bad ways and I just need to stay in good balance emotionally and with my head up always for the bright side of Life. You're absolutely right about not having the time or energy for silliness that can take you down. There are other websites to check on for information about CML and available medications and I check in with those as well as staying in touch with the trial I'm on and other CML specialists. All the best to you and your boyfriend! Please stay in touch. dxd 8/2001 First Imatinib (Gleevec) and now dasatinib (Sprycel). Have reached several levels of CCR and most recently with PCR of non-detectability with side effects requiring stopping of Sprycel for several weeks. Back on Sprycel after 2 1/2 weeks off and am doing well, so far. Cheers, L. [cml 2] Life is GreatDear ,Glad you are feeling better and think you might live. Guest guest
> Thanks for sharing! It really inspires me (and I am having my surgery on Sept. 12th) > Hi Everyone, > > I walked this morning with a friend of mine who had sleeve surgery in April 2009--she has been my walking partner for a lot of years. She is doing wonderful. She looks great. She made the choice to have the surgery after watching me for a few months. So it is always wonderful to see someone else have the success that I have had. I want to encourage you, if you are lurking out there just reading these postings, we are honestly ALL REAL people who have had this Weight Loss Surgery done. It has change my whole mind and attitude about food and being healthy and gives me the opportunity to live the rest of my life like a healthy person. I feel 20 years younger without a doubt, I always wondered if this would work for awhile and then I would fail at this like I had done with everything esle that I had tried when it came to weight loss. I want to tell you I know deep down in my heart, that I will be able to live like this the rest of my life and that I will be successful at this forever. That is a nice word to be able to say FOREVER. We all want that forever weight loss. So if I can change your life by writing these words then I have been really successful. I can't change to world, only myself. But I do hope that this support group made up of wonderful people just like you and me can help you change yourlife. > > I have posted a few new pictures. Check them out. I have one that was taken a year ago in Reno on Aug 2008 and one that was just taken when I was just there in August 2009. Look at them and see the 85 pound difference. I still want to lose 15 more pounds. I know that it is going to come off slower, but that is ok too--I don't stree of things like that anymore because I know it will happen. It take effort and work on my part. I enjoyed looking at someone's before and after pictures before I had the surgery, they alway drove to forward to knowing that I could do this if normal regular people like me had already done this. I still love seeing pictures of people starting out and how they progress to a new healthy person. > > Have a nice weekend. > > Always, > Suzanne > > 225 140 125 > Start Now Goal > > Sleeved 10/21/08 > > PS Dr Aceves is my Hero!
