It is known for innovative and multi-sectoral initiatives in the HIV/AIDS field. SAATHII is registered as a tax-exempt charitable trust with offices in Chennai (head office) and Calcutta. SAATHII is looking for a suitable individual for its Media Projects Coordinator position, which requires a broad knowledge of current health sector issues with demonstrated experience and skills in information collection, report writing, project management and networking with different health sectors. Job Description: The principal role of the Media Projects Coordinator will be to: 1. Develop contents for specific websites and newsletters focusing on HIV and other health sector issues. 2. Design templates for the newsletters. 3. Guide the website and newsletter technical teams for designing, uploading and printing work. 4.Plan distribution of the newsletters and publicity for the websites. 5. Develop e-forums associated with the websites and help in their moderation. 6. Develop tools to collect feedback on the websites and newsletters. The Media Projects Coordinator will report to the Country Director - Programmes & Development / Calcutta Office Director, SAATHII Required: 1. Strong journalistic skills with ability to persistently pursue information sources, collate, edit, proof and prepare final matter for printing / uploading 2.High level of English and Bengali language skills suitable for web and newsletter writing 3.Reasonable English-Bengali and vice-versa translation skills 4. Strong knowledge base and messaging skills vis-à-vis HIV/AIDS, gender, sexual orientation, reproductive health issues. 5. At least five years of experience in either journalism or HIV/AIDS related work in India or both. 6. A university degree at the Graduate level or higher in health, social sciences, business administration, education or journalism. 7. Sound computer skills (including use of Internet, Microsoft Word and DTP software). 8. Ability to work independently and as a team player in a complex, multicultural environment, with demonstrated leadership, communication,networking and presentation capabilities. Preferred: 1. Managerial experience in health sector projects, including programme design and implementation, reporting, monitoring, evaluation, financial and human resources management. 2. Experience in working / liaising with NGOs, government agencies, corporate bodies, bilateral and multi-lateral agencies. 3. Knowledge of web development software will be given due weight. Salary (consolidated): Around Rs. 15,000/- per month (commensurate with experience and expertise). An initial one-year contract will be offered.
