im sorry if i make mistake in anglish but i am french, my daughter natasha is

only 19 and she have start sprycel 2 months ago, and she have gain 30 pounds,

its redicoulous , so nope , you are not the only one, she is having a hard time

dealing with this to, she was slim and she cant fit in none of her pants now,

and the doctor said it was a normal side affect, on gleevec , she was getting

smaller and on sprycel she is gaining,

I have been on Sprycel since Thanksgiving and have had many strangeside effects,

but one I'm really having trouble dealing with is theamount of weight I have

gained in such a short time. Has anyone elseexperienced this? I'm not a junk

food junkie and I don't sit aroundall the time, unless I'm in a lot of pain,most

of the time I'm quiteactive. I just can't believe that this much weight gain is

normalunless the medication is causing it. I was given lasix 40 mg forfluid

retention but it does not help much. Please tell me I'm not theonly one

Thank you for writing back. I think you do really well with your English :-) I

can't imagine how bad I would be at French! I studied Spanish both

conversational and formal in college, and I don't remember much at all these

days.

I'm 46 years old and figured some of my weight problem was my age, but 20 pounds

in less than 2 months really upset me. It's hard enough dealing with the

disease and drugs, now I'm going to have to be really careful with everything I

put in my mouth.! I struggled a little with Gleevec, but that was about 10

pounds over a year.

My thoughts are with you and your daughter. I'm so grateful I found out about

these on-line support groups. It's a great way to keep in touch with all the

people fighting CML and knowing others are going through some of the same

things!
