Guest guest
I never smelt cig smoke but I was very sensitive to smells. Especially on days when my nausea was bad. I never paid attention to what it smelled like but I did have an altered sense of smell. 35 CML 5/13/05 Spyrcel 100mg (Gleevec 800mg until 8/07) Wife and mother of e (12,8,6) ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
Hi Tammy, I laughed when I read your post because I don't think there is anyone out there who's nose is as sensitive as mine. If my window is open, I'm able to smell my neighbour smoking when he's in his house and I'm in mine. I don't think I've ever read anywhere that Gleevec itself can cause side effects related to smelling but in a round about way, I believe it can. Estrogen is known to influence our ability to smell and women who have higher estrogen levels tend to have more sensitive noses (this is also why women can generally smell better than men). So now while Gleevec may not influence our ability to smell directly, I really believe that the hormonal side effects that Gleevec causes, does influence our smelling abilities. In other words, it's not the Gleevec that is the cause but the hormonal disturbances that the Gleevec causes. Unfortunately I don't see any doctors rushing to study how our hormones are effected while on Gleevec so the significance of this side effect is totally unknown to us. Take care, Tracey > > Is smelling a side effect? I smell cigerette smoke, or at the very least, > unclean air, all the time.
