Guest guest
Reference the postings on running out of stock of ARVs. It was perhaps expected. In a country where anti-TB programme could not succeed,it was perhaps too much to expect that a programme of free ARVs would be sustained. In the context of anti-TB programmes,it is well known that in many places some or the other drug is not available at some time or the other. If a patient is asked to come the next day for one drug,he would come only when his turn comes for all the other drugs. Thereby fostering resistance by omitting one or the other drug at some time. I won`t be surprised if the same scenario is repeated for ARVs.I strongly feel that instead of playing to the gallery by distributing free ARVs,the government had spent the same resources doing better things. One of the first priorities should have been to train a larger number of doctors. All doctors need to understand some basics of HIV Unfortunately this is not true.
