Guest guest
, the pain in my legs used to be so bad it would wake me up at night and I would just lay there, crying, until I could gradually inch myself up and out of bed to take some advil, which helped take the edge off. That was two years ago. Today, I don't get those pains, although the pain I get in my knees and shins makes working out a painful ordeal. And sometimes when I stand up at work I pretend I'm looking at papers or something when in truth I can't move! After a few minutes, I can hobble along pretty good. Bottom line: It does get a lot better. It seemed to take about three or four months for the more severe pains to subside. From: rachel_art_design@... How long do these side effects last? I can barely walk. I was on Gleevec for a month and then my Dr lowered the dose from 400mg to 300mg and was on it for 3 days it all started over again. I'm really frustrated. I feel great when I stop for a few days, but that wont work for very long. Thanks for listening Peace, Light & Love --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Hello, . When I was on 800 mg Gleevec in 2002 I was in a vaccine trial in Connecticut and one night also went to the emergency room. None of the painkillers they gave me worked and I had a cml friend come pick me up and take me home, finally. The following morning I went to see my onc on the trial and he gave me an IV with Ativan in it. That relaxed me and also stopped the pain. Bone pain is a terrible thing. I've had it a few times. I am now on Sprycel and haven't had a problem with it in almost 2 years. I stopped Gleevec because I lost my response to it in 2004. This was my solution and you might ask your oncologist about it for yourself. I don't know how they came to this treatment but it did work.
