Guest guest
Tracey, Thank you for that. I no longer know what advanced phases of the disease means. I was at PCRU when I had to go on a drug holiday and only took one week of not-very-strong diuretic. Then it tooka another week and a half to get rid of the fluid and peripheral neuropathy. However, I was on Gleevec from 2001 - 2006 and have been on Sprycel for less than two years. So, I was diagnosed 7 years ago. I think age may make a difference and other factors as well. I have never taken a dip back to when I was diagnosed but have aged and of course bear the scars of multiple bone marrow tests and neither hip is useful for more. I have decided at this point not to have any more sternum bone marrow tests. But that's an individual decision. It could change, I suppose but I don't foresee that at this time. Regular blood tests, etc. And 100 mgs of Sprycel once a day in the morning. I'm still PCRU and back on Sprycel anbd Tasigna is out there as well as some other options like AMN 107. Nice to see you hear, Tracey. L. [ ] Pleural effusions For those of you interested in the pleural effusions that some people on Sprycel can get, here's a brief article that describes it. http://jco.ascopubs.org/cgi/content/abstract/25/25/3908 The article suggests that people on the twice daily dose have a slightly higher risk of developing the effusions as do people in more advanced phases of the disease. Management of the effusions include drug holidays, diuretics, systemic steroids, and thoracentesis (removing the fluid with a needle). Guest guest
Thanks, but Tasigna is the same as nilotinib, not AMN107. Note it in your own table. Guest guest
AMN107 was the trial name of the molecule nilotinib sold under the brand name Tasigna, the 3 names refer to the same drug. Guest guest
Thank you, Marcos. I do appreciate the information. I try to keep up to date but these days there is so much going on (which is great!) that it's hard to do.
