Guest guest
I have been on Sprycel for about 6 months. I have been very happy with my response. Gleevec made me so sick from the side effects and I developed the mutated gene that stopped it from working so I was switched to Sprcel. ________________________ Tracey has given you good information. You need to know what mutation you have and if it is not responsive to Sprycel. HHT is an old drug (I used it in a pumped in form about 8 years ago). Right now if you have the bad mutation (T315I) there is not a proven treatment....there are just trials going on for several drugs I think. If I was in this situation, I would consult with one of the top CML specialists....and right now Dr. Talpaz, at Ann Arbor, Michigan is probably your best bet to see what is known about your mutation and what results they are having, etc. and what recommendations he would make. When you are not responding to the first and second tier of drugs, this is when you really do need to see one of the few true CML specialists out there. I would not be concerned about not responding to Sprycel in the first 6 months (many have responded later)........unless it is known that your mutation is not sensitive to this drug. I wish you the best, C.
