Guest guest
Dear Moderator, I saw this advertisement for a Asst. Program Manager & Trainer by The Association for Promoting Social Action (APSA), Bangalore by Mr. Meindert Schaap. The person specifications ask for a possible PhD and part of the job is to work as a personal assistant. Are Doctoral degrees so cheap these days? The best people to train teenage street children and slum children, in my experience are the older slum children themselves. They know the heart of the street and slum kids and the attachment they form is instant. So if we want programmes that really work it is time that agencies stopped looking for PhDs and started looking for slum kids and train them to be trainers. It will be a brilliant selling point for APSA too. Plus in a few years they can turn the whole programme over to the street kids too.
