Guest guest
Dear Forum, Modicare Foundation is a Non profit organisation working on HIV/AIDS awareness in Delhi & Mumbai. One of our primary programs –‘Ambassadors of Change’ – works with adolescent boys and girls, as we believe they are the building blocks of a healthy and well-adjusted society. Based on our experience & expertise we have come out with a module ‘Demystifying Adolescence – Bujho, Jaana, Sanjho’ for adolescents. This module uses Life Skills approach to address issues life Interpersonal Relationships, Peer pressure, Pubertal Changes, Responsible sexual behaviour HIV/AIDS etc. A brief out line of the module is provided below : Session 1 WHAT WE ARE ABOUT This session aims to introduce the Foundation and the program, as well as establish rapport with adolescents. In addition, the session aims to set the tone for future sessions on various topics and issues related to adolescent reproductive and sexual health. Session 2 EK MAIN AUR EK TU ( Interpersonal Relationship) This session will enable adolescents to analyze their interpersonal relationships encouraging them to explore how significant relationships in their lives can be strengthened and maintained. Session 3 OUR BODIES AND OUR SELVES ( Physical, Socio-emotional changes during adolescence) This session enables adolescents to understand male and female reproductive systems, while reflecting on and clarify existing myths and misconceptions. In addition, the session provides information on proper nutrition and stresses the importance of personal hygiene, in order to prepare adolescents for adulthood. Session 4 KUCH TUM JANO KUCH HUM JANE (Basics of HIV/AIDS) This session will provide correct information on HIV/ AIDS. Further, during the session, adolescents will be encouraged to develop unbiased and gender sensitive attitudes towards people living with the virus. Session 5 THE TRIPLE ‘T’ WONDER - Thinking Things Through!! ( Problem Solving & Decision Making) This session will aim to develop and enhance problem solving and decision making skills, enabling adolescents to avoid high risk behaviour and encouraging them to make informed choices. Session 6 KAISE KARE INKAAR – ( Peer Pressure) This session will explore positive and negative peer pressure that adolescents face, and encourage them to develop assertive skills through practical demonstrations. In addition, the session will enhance an adolescent’s ability to actually say ‘no’ when facing peer pressure. Session 7 PYAR VYAR KYA HAI? ( Responsible Sexual Behaviour) This session provides adolescents a chance to share their concerns and voice their feelings. Further, the session aims to increase an understanding and acceptance of the physical and emotional changes that occur during adolescence and enhance sexual maturation to ensure that adolescents grow to become sexually healthy and confident adults. Session 8 THE AHA! EXPERIENCE - Creating an enabling environment Having learnt to use life skills to create a safe and supportive learning environment over the past sessions, the time has arrived to provide adolescents a space and platform to consolidate and translate all their learning into proactive and effective action. The ultimate ‘Aha’ experience! Thus, this session will explore the extent to which adolescents have understood and internalized life skills, and also look at ways in which they can use these when communicating with their environment. If required our trained staff can conduct workshops with your target group on above mentioned issues.
