After four months of blood tests and a biopsy (which was very painful), I was

diagnosed with AIH. This board has been an incredible source of informtion for

me. I won't write anymore today because I'm not even sure if I " m posting

properly. I just want to say hi to everyone.

Hi ,

We are practically neighbors. I also have AIH, I'm going on my second

year. Sorry to hear your biopsy was painful. Some here have also had a

rough time when it came to their biopsy.

Your going to meet some really great people, who try their best to help.

You're posting just fine. Gee, you had a pretty quick diagnosis! <grin> I've been about 5 years, and they keep changing their mind. Now, what they think is that I do have AIH, but a rare (or would that be, even rarer?) variant. So, I guess I'm the list's deviant!! LOL!!

Anyway, Hi! And don't stop posting. I'm sure you have lots of concerns and questions. It's a pretty safe bet that someone here has experienced the same thing as you, regardless of how weird it may seem!

Hi Jen

i would check into your thyroid too...

i am finding by the info i have received on many lists im on that the thyroid

can give many symptoms of diabeties... just remember that breads and pastas etc

turn into sugar in your body... WARNING WARNING eat the green leaffy veggies for

your carbs like mustard greens or turnip greens or spinich....the darker the

better...

check into some of the thyroid lists on ... just to read others experiences

ask questions... youd be surprised at some of the answers... suppliments can

help alot of things to nourish our bodies... so dont take any drastic measures

...do more research...

i only came in on the back end of this conversation.. if im out of line in what

i said im sorry... i just wantted to " get the word out " because it shocked me

when i found all this out...

I will definitely keep this in mind, even though I

don't have diabetic symptoms, per se (I don't think).

My mother has thyroid problems. I am not sure which

kind. However, it will have to wait until I can go to

the doc.

The other unsung hero is PARSLEY and to me it tastes a lot better than

collards and kale. I prefer the flat leaved, Italian parsley. When used

fresh, it also contains vitamins and enzymes that are lost when things are

dried, heated or processed. I substitute it for a lot of lettuce in salads,

add it just before serving in soups, stews and scrambled eggs, etc.

My source of alfalfa tablets are inexpensive, too. $10.00 for 500 10

grain tablets.

Jeri,

I would check with your surgeon and be sure that the walking issue is

not coming from your neck.

I know it sounds very odd. I had Harrington Rod surgery in 81. Rod

broke at the bottom and they

took big rod out and put in a small harrington compression rod. In

88, I had a fusion to the sacrum.

L5 was sitting on the sciatic nerve. This year my neck started

hurting and it turned out that I had really

bad arthritis, bad disks and cord compression. This was due to my

flatback posture. I have always

shied away from the big revision surgery with the osteomies because I

have no lower back pain (knock on

wood). Anyways, this cord compression caused numbness in the hands

and legs and loss of balance was

an issue. I had surgery in June and he took the lamina off many of

the cervical vertebrae. My recovery has

been slow and painful but nothing is numb any longer. So - ask your

doctor about the cervical area before deciding

about the other.

Good luck!

Hey & Amy. . .

, I hope you don't have one of the bugs that's going around. For my

nausea and vomitting; the H/O gave me compazine, which didn't work and 3 other

anti-nausea medications. Finally, Zofran; which is an anti-nausea medication for

Cancer patients; worked for me.

Amy. . .he's so PRECIOUS! ! ! ENJOY! ! ! I am sending you a private email. .
