Guest guest
Hey Group. . . I almost made it through the winter without having to be hospitalized! However, after going to my PCP~~Primary Care Physician, H/O~~Hematologist/Oncologist, and to the hospital lab for the 'Fantastic' RT-PCR Test result of 0.00021. . .the airborne virus got into my lower-right quadran lung area. I went to the ER on February 27 prior to 8 a.m., with a digital temperature 99.6 --102.4 over 13 hours. I wasn't released until March 4 after 2 p.m. This is my 2nd flair-up of COPD from Chronic Bronchitis. As for my Brother & Sister Survivors with COPD who are 'smoking'! I have often " hehehe'd " about being the fish outta water, laying on the floor flapping/gasping for air " . I got THAT 'feeling' of being in a Roomful of Air and NOT being able to get 1 BREATH! ! ! A Nurses' Aide & Respiratory Tech were in the room and didn't aid me, because each thought I knew the technique to access that 'breath'. . .I had to call MY Nurse and get Everything under control. In the future, my PCP will NOT be managing my COPD. . .my Pulmonary Specialist will. Having had HMOs ALL my life. . .I urge you to get Specialists on board for each of your Illnesses. I have often " hehe'd " about having so many Doctors, when in actuality; I don't need a PCP. Whenever I am hospitalized, my H/O, Cardiologist, or Pulmonary Dr. will be managing my care. The " HEHE " now is 'after being given 2-5 months morbid mortality in January, 2004 per our bug. . .I am now gonna die of COPD! I'm in my 5th year, and my plan is to not require the Oxygen when this Lung infection heals. After all. . .ALL of you know. . . " I AM A SURVIVOR. . .I AIN'T FINISHED YET " ! ! ! Take care, I have ALL in my prayers. . . " K " " K " " I AIN'T FINISHED YET " !!!
Guest guest
Hi, Not having a PCP is not a good idea. They are our " cruise directors " who are to keep all the different factions connected so that there are no miscommications i.e. drug interactions. Guest guest
Hi K I am sorry to hear that you too got that nasty bug. I personally am hoping that I am at end of the 3 week long bug myself. I have not had the flue or bronchitis since 1996 and have flue shots regularly along with everyone in my household. This year I did not get my 3 children vaccinated. Last month they all 3 came home form school on the same day with 103 and 104 fevers. It lasted for about 2 days before I took them all to the Dr because I could not control the fevers with OTC meds. They participated in a study that day that confirmed they all indeed had the flue and there was nothing they could give them or I could give them but TLC. They did get their shots that day. That lasted about 6 days and then I ended up with the same symptoms for 3 days and went right into a terrible sinusitis infection which then went into bronchitis. They gave me 2 antibiotics since the first one did not help at all and a cough syrup which always helps me. It has a bit of codeine in it. Nothing was working not even the syrup. It then went into my ears and into my eyes and it seemed as if so many people in my town here had the same thing. I was seriously considering checking into the ER on many occasions after so many nights of not sleeping etc. Finally this past Saturday night I remembered I had a nebulizer which I use to use years ago for sever asthma until I started using the advair disc inhaler which has worked wonders for me. After using that all week I finally started to get some relief and feel much better with the exception of we have alloy of pollen falling from the trees here in FL right now and that keeps my nose and head a bit congested all day. Anyway, I have never seen anything like this and although they have kept it out of the media by saying the flu has not hit here yet, whatever has hit is surely an epidemic. I am a National Accounts Sales Director and have customers all over the country with this same bug. People who have never had any kind of flu or bronchitis. I hope you get better sooner than you expect and everyone who has not caught this bug please do whatever you can to protect yourself. My son, daughter in-law and my 3 grand daughters have are also just getting over 2 months worth of the flu, bronchitis, ear and eye infections. Everyone take care! ez
Guest guest
Wow, out here in the San Francisco Bay Area, I know so many people who are going through the exact same thing. It is one tenacious bug -- the sinusitis in particular, which of course leads to all the other mayhem. My editor, who never calls in sick, was out for nearly two weeks. She came back looking terribly gray and thin, and could hardly speak above a whisper. From: lmartinez@... Guest guest
Sharon: I think you will like Tasigna, as it has very few GI side effects. Just watch for mid back pain, make sure you schedule you initial weeks of EKGs (my PCP did mine), and try to increase your intake of electrolytes (i.e. Gatorad or G2). It was a much easier transition for me then Gleevec. God bless, Matt [ ] Re: CHRONIC DISEASES~~CHRONIC ILLNESSES --- In groups (DOT) <mailto:%40> com> " I AIN'T FINISHED YET " !!! > > > >

Guest guest
Sharon: G2 is just a new form of Gatorade that just came out. It is supposed to have a lower sugar content. You may also eat bananas or something with high potassium levels, as that is one of the electrolytes that is affected. The back pain is what they call _radial peritoneal pain_ (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & ie=UTF-8 & sa=X & oi=spell & resnum=0 & ct=result & cd\ =1 & q=radial+periton eal+pain & spell=1) or at least that is what the ER Doctor called it. It is back pain that is not related to the back, but instead radiates from your liver, because of high lipase. It is also important to have an intake of low fat food around the times you take Tasigna. Write me off line if you have any other specifics. My best to you and yours on your jouney, Matt In a message dated 3/7/2008 10:27:15 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, onthewtr@... writes: Thanks Matt, I am buying Gatorade tomorrow.
